I have been hearing some people talk about some pretty low reserve times, which is good news to my ears because I eventually want to commute from Minneapolis to Memphis (or Detroit if that's what I get). I was wondering, on a typical month of reserve, how many days I can expect to get off. And also, if they are generally in sequence or if it could be 2 days on, one day off, 2 days on again.... I realize that it's gonna be a whole different game when I'm to that point with all of the new hires getting out of training but I was just wondering if anyone could shed a little light on this. Thank you!

Reserve schedules for Mesaba are 11 days off per month. Typically there will blocks of 5 days in a row...sometimes 4 in a row. If I recall, there can be 1 block of 6 consecutive reserve day in any bid month. For the most part, blocks of 2 days of reserve will appear at beginning of month or the last couple of days of the bid month. I currently work in the Mesaba training department and I don't forsee being on reserve for too long. It depends on base, but I would think it is less than 3 months if in DTW or MEM.

Pinnacle pilots are having a tough time - something Mesaba pilots can identify with. Hopefully negotiations will be concluded in their (Pinnacle pilot's) favor soon. In the meantime, PinnacleFO states,

"I now fully expect Mesaba to be operating 17 crjs by the end of the year at 3 per month. Why? We wont be able to handle them. I really think this was planned all along by NWA and Pinnacle Management. Lets get these 17 planes flying, stuff them down pinnacles throat, knowing that they wont be able to staff them, then we will take them away and try and force them into signing a contract. Mesaba just recently announced that their 900 deliverys are slowing to 1 per month for awhile, perfect for the delivery of 3 200's per month. "

Would like to hear RJ85FO and other Mesaba members comments on rumors, comments, inuendos, speculation, etc. that this might happen.

Well, one of the earlier posts eluded to this but nothing official. In today’s Star Tribune there was a write up on the possibility. N601XJ and N602XJ were ours to begin with. N601XJ just flew the other day. The other 15 belonged to 9E. Well NWA owns them all really. There does seem to be a lot of newbies going to SAAB MEM? Who knows anymore!! I just show up when they need me. :o

I heard the very same rumor today! All speculation at this point, but they way they are hiring (90 so far) it would not surprise me at all. Training is just going nuts with all the returning furloughs this week and the first new hires coming in two weeks.

Incidentally, the 2 CR9 openings in this next class were filled with internal candidates again, so all 32 new hires will go to the Saab.
