the 48 is a smokescreen. they are not backfilling certain slots (it potentially could be only a 31 CA upgrade <--- which is better than nothing).
WE WILL NOT BACKFILL OCC, THE FIRST 10 DFE,
THE FIRST 3 LCE, THE FIRST 3 LFE, THE FIRST 5 NCE,
OR THE FIRST 5 LCS.

I just got offered a class date with Eagle. I was very impressed with the training center/corperate offices that american and Eagle have. They did give me the base I wanted I will most likely get the a/c I want. I am looking for a stable job with not a lot of drama (i.e. mins going to commercial M.E. instrument, not knowing if the airline iwll be there in 4 years). I am very excited to start class but I just don't want to get myself into the whole rollercoster that other airlines are going through.

True, if all 13 of those non-backfill slots are vacated then it will be 35 upgrades only. Or they could change their minds again and take some away; but they do need more Captains, so if we can spare the FOs for training then they'll stand. Also I think they still want to add the 10 Saabs, just have to get staffing for them first. At best this is the start of a good run of movement at Eagle for the next couple of years with flowbacks leaving, a wee bit o' growth and many of the majors/nationals beginning to have everyone recalled and starting to hire from the street. At worst it sure beats a sharp stick in the eye.
