Default Republic 170 mins

Do they still require 1500TT for the 170? I know their website doesnt say they do, but my friend on the inside said he thought they still did.

Yes. I talked to a CA the other day, he was returning from a PC and he said they still do. I'm sure there might be some exceptions. It's a big airplane to handle.

No. I know they've hired plenty of people recently with less than that. One guy had 1000. I think having 121 experience will be a positive in getting the 170 if you want it.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm surprised I haven't been flamed for wanting the 170 over the 145/CRJ.. as a preemptive response: I want the 170 because they have a base in the city I live in.

I really do not see a problem with wanting an certain airplane cause it is based where you live.

There is a problem for wanting a certian airplane because you might think you will be better than someone else.

That is just my thoughts

People usually get flamed cuz they want it cuz it's bigger and looks pretty. Wanting it because you live there is a pretty legit reason.

As near as I can tell, they're still holding to ATP mins on it. I have also heard they will reduce to 1000TT if you have the XC, Night, and Inst. requirements. That's all hearsay though since I'm a 145 guy and pay little to no attention to the hiring of 170 drivers. They don't help my seniority in base at all.

I have a little over 1300 TT, prior 121, and exceed all the other ATP requirements (XC, Inst., Night)

Sooo.. where's that get me, do I have a shot? Would an internal rec. help with getting the 170 at all.. I'm guessing not, but who knows?

I probably should have clarified this as well:

There is absolutely NO REASON as to why someone does or does not get the 170. When they called me originally, it was for a 170 class date. I was a CFI at the time, I had no prior 121, no jet time, nothing except 1500TT and 300ME. I didn't even have 500 hours of cross country time...which, after I explained that...led me to the 145 I'm happily flying today. Moral of the story: You get what you got because they needed you there, period.
