Default Pay for training question

I have a question about pay for training. Again, as in all my post, I am lookingonly for serious, intelligent, meaningful responses.

People say its bad to go to p;laces like Gulfstreamor Mesa. They say these people are essentially paying for a job. I dontknow. I got all my ratings at a military flying club.

But I read about people buing block time in a twin and just flying with a buddy here and there to build tiem. Isnt that the same thing? I mean they are paying to build time. Whats the difference?

Huge difference. The first way you described is when someone writes a check to an employer in return for a job.

The second way money doesn't go to an employer in exchange for a job.

Easy as that .

You and a buddy go split time in a twin, no big deal. Lots of people do it. The ONLY thing you are paying for is the multi time in your log book.

You go to Gulstream, YOU are subsidizing the company's training costs. If you go to just about any other carrier, they are paying for your training. The way it should be.

Do what you wish. But please, as long as I have been reading your posts, use spell check. If you are too lazy to do it here, at least do it on your resume/cover letter.

Ditto. Splitting a block of time is just like any other rental.

Housekeeping note:

Thread title changed from "Another serious quesion" to the actual topic in question. Please always try to include the thread topic in the thread title. This helps everyone when they use the search feature.

Also, is it really necessary to state that you're looking for meaningful responses? It suggests that many users here don't

HUGE difference between the two.
Paying for your ratings and buying time in an aircraft is normal. Everyone does it.

Paying an employeer for a job is what is unacceptable. Instead of Gulfstream paying a First Officer $30,000 a year, you need to pay $30,000 for a job. Basically, it is worse than working for free! Imagine working at McDonalds, and you paying them to make the hamburgers. It is downright crazy!

Gulfstream pilots are regarded about one level below scabs. They are in the same category as GoJet pilots.

Second that.

N6724G, I'm not usually one to mention spelling cause lord knows I've made several mistakes myself but just run it through the spell checker once. I do it and I know most all do it, it won't get the usage but it will fix the spelling. I also recommend proof reading it. A lot of your errors are annoying and you commit the same errors in all your postings. “SeeIthink itsvery easyto correcterrors ofspacing, justrunthe spellcheck!”

No offence, just take a little more pride in how others precieve you. My perception of you, through your postings, is that you’re an 18 year old kid with very little patience. I’m sure your not and this is only a little friendly advice.

PFT (Pay For Training) is a JO move. It’s almost always the JO type airlines that do it and that should say something.

Thanks for the housekeeping notes. The reason Iask for meaningful responses is because for the years I have been reading posts on here. A lot of people come to bash and curse and say things of little value to posters I am a professional worker and I am looking for professional comments. Sure I can joke and bash and have fun with skyhigh like everyone else. But in this particular case,i am looking for serious responces and not cracking jokes.

As for my spelling. I wont even comment on how I write resumes. I dont always check my spelling. I think everyone her egets the gist of what I am trying to say. But I will try harder in the future. Thanks

Sooo what do all you think of ATP Flight Schools? or any other flight school with a bridge program?
Paying big dollars for flight school in order to get an interveiw, not not diffrent than simply buying your way into an airline. Just curious to see what you all think about those programs.
Regardless, its the guy at the end of the day who has the job whom is smiling.
