What is it like working at TSA? I know the washout rate during training is pretty rough. How is life at the company? Pay, benefits, any kind of info would be greatly appreciated?

I'm also interested to know this as I am going to be sending in my resume to TSA within a few months. I think there's a thread about this already but I'm not quite sure. Too lazy to search for it. :P

if i put it simply, people are leaving for Chautauqua on a regular basis, upgrade is low for now, but the possibility of street captains around the corner is definitely a real concern. Minimum days off are 10, which you'll see on reserve, on line you'll see 11-13 depending on where you fall in seniority. Not sure how long reserve is running for FO's right now, as they're short staffed, but i'd say between 2-5 mos of reserve. Training is tough, flight safety instructors are hit and miss, and the company doesn't care about your "sob" story of why he didn't sign you off, it's just as easy for them to let you go with a big "X" on your resume' which until you can get that blotted out (work at an even less desirable place) your job opportunities may be small, pass training however, and they'll be extensive.

Reserve is not running that long for FO's
one month for me.

The staffing appears to be getting better. I start a one day trip tomorrow
and that is the first flying I have had in 8 or 9 days

My theory on the Trans States situation, if you saw a big ship, kind of like the titanic. And this ship was kind of cool because its bigger than your little 5 foot sail boat, your like.....man I want to get on that bigger boat! and then all of the sudden the boat explodes, starts taking on water, catches on fire and capsizes really! Sparks everywhere, rats running for the higher ground, people jumping off the sides, crew members blasting their brains out, and you think, man I will just go get on that boat for a little while until i find one BETTER than that one!!!!!

MY GOODNESS GUYS, why would you even consider it, there is a reason people are leaving left and right and everyone hates it there. Its not like people leave and hate the place just for the F of it! its a sinking ship! How many FOs from Chautauqua, and Skywest are bailing to come to TSA! How many captains are sticking around just to wait out for the next job they Really want instead of bailing for the first job that comes along. The writing is on the wall and if you can read it, you shouldnt be breathing our air anyways. Think about it, if your a pilot wanting to get into the regional industry, the cards are in your hand. Wait for a better job, it will save you a lot of time, $$ and headache in the end. Just my 56 Cents

Ok, I think I need this explained to me like i'm a 4 year old....So, TSA is the sinking ship, correct? TSA is not the place to go, is that what you're saying? I just need clarification here b/c I do want to throw in an app. to TSA in a couple of months.
