Don't listen to anyone on here blastboy/bigtime209, myself included. You will get yays and nays about every regional out there. Just go and investigate it on your own and find out, thats the only way to get the unbiased judgement.

Agreed! I just like to hear different opinions about the industry. I'm not swayed one way or another by anyones' opinion here and I haven't lost sight of my goals. I'm going to send in my apps. to TSA and everyone else whenever I feel I'm ready to do so. However, a lot of guys on here work for TSA and I just wanted to get a heads up on things at the company. The first person to offer me the job is where I'm going, period.

FWIW - the only people I know that worked at TSA either came to CHQ (25% of my class was former TSA FO's) or went to XJet. No one I've talked to had anything nice to say. If you're thinking about going to TSA, also think about doing your current job a lil' longer and going to SKW/CHQ/XJET/Anywhere else.

Is TSA on the "blacklist"? Will I be ok working with them until I find something more suitable? Or will airlines say "Hey, this guy worked for TSA. Can't hire him!" Just curious.

I think that, perhaps, blastboy meant that: a job is a job. With exceptions, of course i.e. Mesa. However, nobody has really elaborated as to why TSA should be put on the "shun at all cost" list. Friends tell me that they have heard "horror stories" regarding TSA, but I've never heard anything first hand. I searched the forums last night but the closest I could find to TSA flame was the fact that they used to not pay for your hotels during training.

But why are they leaving? What is causing them to hate TSA that should dissuade new pilots from joining up with them?

I'll second this. Its a real simple question:

Why would you settle for a second tier company when the first tier companies are hiring lots? Seriously. It really really really is worth waiting it out. Go XJT, Republic, Skywest! Avoid airlines where lots of people are unhappy... they are that way for good reasons! It's not worth going there to try to find out why it's so bad. HUGE waste of your time. Places like Mesa/TSA/Colgan will suck the life out of you and eventually you won't enjoy flying as much as you used to.

You have choices- make the best one!

What is this blacklist thats been mentioned on a few of these threads? TSA isn't on any blacklist. Crappy company, but a company isn't going to turn you down b/c you worked here. In fact, if you get through training at TSA, you'll probably be ok anywhere else, b/c they don't give a shizite whether you make it through or not. They do NOT train you to proficiency. They give you the allotted training, and you better be ready at the allotment, or you'll be done.

I wouldn't go that far my friend. I turned down 2 crappy regionals with terrible contracts already. You should be eager to get there but seriously don't just settle for the first thing that comes your way. Be a little patient, you will be glad you did.

Thank you! A job is a job. (I did promise myself that I wouldnt go for Mesa, however.) But after some thought, I do agree that in todays day and age, you have to be a little pickier (did I spell that right?). The overwhelming storm of corporate greed has swept this nation like a plague thus causing QOL, pay, benefits and all the rest to be bare minimal at most carriers. From my observation, I do see a small margin of QOL, pay and beneftis between the regionals. For example, I've gathered from research that Mesa sucks and now learning that pinnacle, mesaba, TSA, PSA and colgan aren't much better....but they're better. I hope I'm making sense here. I don't know much about Chaut, Comair, Xjet and the others but is their QOL, benefits and contracts so much better that I should completely avoid TSA or anyone else? Ultimately, I will make my decision on where I want to work but I like to hear insiders perspectives. Thanks!
