Ret Mil - FO Interview PSA, ExpressJet, Envoy

I’m not in the job market, so I don’t know, but I’ll find out.
If the regionals are hiring pilots without or RATPs, I’d be surprised if the ones I named aren’t. Just a reality for all airlines as the collective experience and size of the potential hiring pool contracts.
Kind of like how NK used to tout the highest required PIC, and WN used to require the 737 type, but those both were dropped since 2014.

Career destinations? Whatever that means.
I disagree. I can only speak for F9, but it has always been a pretty tight pilot group that could cherry pick applicants as it was growing/hiring when legacies were furloughing and no one else in the US was hiring. Growth since 2013 in bases (2 then vs 5 now, and more to come) has certainly fueled opportunity, and relatively short upgrades on the Airbus (good living) plus the new CBA & pay rates definitely will make for interest from a growing group of pilots.

F9 is small, with uncertainty as to what management ultimately intends in the long run. Probably a better place to be in the future than the past, but a young guy probably won't retire from F9. I'd consider them if you absolutely have to be in one of their bases (DEN anyway, not sure how stable the other bases are) and aren't competitive for other airlines. And the F9 contract still lags the middle and top tier majors.

Might it be less? Yep. More? Certainly, yes.
I know of non-current mil guys called up for major interviews right after updating their apps with their fresh, new type rating and were at the regionals only barely long enough to complete IOE. I also know guys who spent 2 years at the regionals waiting for the call and upgraded to Captain. All of them were guys with good resumes and no major skeletons in their closets.
Be emotionally and financially prepared for 2 years, and be happy when it doesn't actually take that long.

Thanks all. I’m not sure what the standard is as far as interviews go with the regionals. So far I’m not impressed with Envoy at all. They took 2 days to get back to me just to schedule an interview and even then they did it by email after I called them. ExpressJet immediately called me to setup my interview, flights and hotel automatically. PSA took days to get back to me as well and I had to arrange my own hotel. No problem doing all that but ExpressJet sure does accommodate people.

Well, no matter where you go, they have to complete your RATP/ATP prior to OE/CSK, so that is good.
We have a couple of 1,100 RATPs in new hire right now, so again, not telling you what to do, I’d do that at a place where you’d get more out of it than just getting your ticket squared away, like NK/F9/G4 and some access to CA on a larger bird in 3 years.
Just saying.

IOE/OE initial operating experience, kind of like mission seasoning. Usually your first 25 hours+- flown with a LCA/line check airman/SEFE
CSK consolidation of skills & knowledge, a defined timetable (usually 90d after your initial PC/proficiency checkride) that you have to log 100 hours or you get to reset with another sim check. You normally track this and notify training if you are not on track.

Just for some comparison. We have a guy who came in flying the C-130, still does air guard stuff flying them on orders. He’s been with us now 15 months. 6-8 months may have worked for some, but won’t for all. Make sure you go somewhere you’re willing to be for awhile.
