Default MEI or just pay for the time.

Well just got the email and looks like the aerial mapping work is slowing down and its almost time to start furloughing pilots which puts me in a delima. I have my CFI already and enough total time to get a interview at most regionals that I want to go to but its the pesky multi-time thats killing me. I have about 75 right now and have a few options to get to 100. First I can just simply pay for it it will run me about 5 grand but I could get it done in about a week. Or i can spend a week getting my CFI-I and MEI and then instruct for who knows how long if I could find a school with a multi-engine aircraft tand will let me start out in the multi so I can get the rest of the hours. I know the airlines would probably rather see me instruct but I know my heart won't be in it and I will just be trying to get in a get out and would feel bad because I would most likely leave some students hanging. Worst of all I could forget the places I would like to go and just get on with one of the regionals that don't require as much multi but again I would not be happy and would stay unhappy for a while. So any ideas which route I should go?!?!

I'd start applying to the regionals now. Many are taking people with less than a 100 hrs multi (even though they're not advertising this).

I have had my application into a few for about a month and not heard a thing so my last hope was to just get the multi time and see if that was the problem.

do what you have to do, seems silly to waste extra money you dont have to knowing what you are getting back from the job.

how much is getting your CFII and MEI going to cost? You're going to spend money either way and it seems like you don't really have your heart set on teaching. Buying the multi time sounds more beneficial to you than spending that much on the MEI and then working at some flight school you don't wanna be at.

How is that any "worse", for lack of a better word, than sitting in the right seat instructing while your heart admittedly isn't in it? Time is time. Time is money. Money is money. You get the point.

Also, you can find a twin cheaper than that. I used to fly an Apache for $140/hour. Safety pilot method=$70/hr. You can't beat that.
