Telex Airman 750?

There's enough ambient noise in the CRJ to have long term hearing loss. If I could go back and get the 850's from the start of my career I would...
I now wear them in the Citation and they're great. As for going "topless" I never understood the need. (And most folks at ACA/IDE didn't). Just resulted in more shouting across the cockpit and missed radio calls in my experience, but your mileage apparently varies.

I recently read an article about industrial noise...supposedly even lower levels of continous noise can significantly increase fatigue after all-day exposure. I'm thinking about getting some ANR's and leaving them on for the entire flight just to see if I feel more energetic at the end of the day. Maybe then I'll be able to work out AND go to the bar afterwards...

During my previous life as an offline jumpseater, I didn't see a whole lot of guys go topless. In fact I didn't see any pilots at the majors go topless.
As a 747 engineer I still wear my telex 850. Does that make me a tool? Alot of guys use the piece of crap headset on the airplane but I'd rather not wear the previous plumbers hair solutions...
The naked above 180 statement is a bit broad. Never been on an RJ, maybe it applies there. I think a few other guys may take offense at being called a tool..
If it wasn't meant that way never mind. Use caution using the submit post key.

that was more crj specific as imnot familiar with the noise levels of the 747. im not sure how loud the 747 is (soon to find out) but i know in the DC-10 our headsets, or should i say ear piece, was always off in cruise. Theres some airplanes where its just not possible to take your headset off because the noise really does suck (727, C-17, C-130etc) but im posting this in reference to a crj question in the regionals board, so relax "eng"

I use the 850's and have recently even been experimenting with ear plugs in as well. I like it QUIET! Hearing is something you can never get back, the way I saw the extra couple hundred bucks for the -850 instead of the -750 was an investment in myself so I am not a 65 year old going "HUH" all the time. As far as topless above 180- I have flown with only 1 or 2 guys that have done it, and it is still quite loud. You can actually cruise pretty easily at 320/.77 in the -200, and its quite a bit louder than 290/.74. Climb though... 500fpm..
