Preferred Experience for Regionals
#11
FFor clarity once training is complete, and the new pilot is established on line and somewhat experienced (a couple years, a couple thousand hours), the older guy is more likely to have better judgement and be willing to to say "No" when needed. Probably won't be involved in drunken liberty incidents either.

Incorrect. "1500 hours and a pulse" does not get you into all Regionals right now. It will get you into a Regional, but it may not be your top choice. Plenty of people are getting the TBNT letter from Regionals such as Endeavor and Republic.

Add SKYW, the drought is over, rumor is the app stack is "fat", thanks for playing.

The CFI will be more adept at observing and at CRM.
Knowing when to speak up.
Good part of the job is to monitor and critique in a diplomatic way.
#2 guy has never had to observe and spot the error let alone critique in a non objectionable way.
Every landing you walk away from right?
Ideally:
1- Turboprop 91/135 at 250 hrs (1900 or KingAir ) and loads of approaches in poor weather. Last 300 hrs PIC
2. CFI time, CFII and 300-400 ME instruction given, not just around the cabbage patch.

This is definitely true for right now... I don't think I said you can pick any regional you want, but if I did, that was a mistake. The better regionals are doing a great job of attracting people, but there will always be some you can get a job with. Plus, with the mainline mandatory retirement numbers sharply rising for the next few years, I think the pendulum will swing back the other way again, even for the good companies.

Endeavor, Republic, and SkyWest all have classes full for many months.
