Wait... no. That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. If people on the internet started agreeing all the time it would break down. Chaos. Cats and dogs sleeping together. Locusts. Plagues. Floods.

Thank you. Much better. There was almost a temporal rift.

My buddies and I have concluded they do that by lottery, nobody is sure why (other than the obvious affirmative action picks). Possibly to smooth out their age demographics to prevent *another* retirement bubble in 20 years, possibly to leverage optimism among entry-level/ junior regional pilots... if one of them gets hired, they all think they'll be next.

For planning purposes, the only *predictable* way to get called is still to have a relatively clean record, a degree, multiple types, 5K+ hours w/ 2K+ TPIC, and usually something else on the resume that makes you interesting... masters, volunteer, check airman, etc, etc

You'd know much better than I Rick, but I can't imagine a masters degree + volunteer time really overcomes a lack of TPIC for a white male applicant, correct?

No. That stuff is icing, not cake. A few kids will get called with no TPIC on a lottery system (several possible reasons for that, but nobody really knows at least who's telling), but anyone older will need TPIC. At least right now. If they run out of people with TPIC to hire at mainline, while still keeping the feeders flying, they might start hiring based on whole person, minus TPIC.

Makes sense to me (although I secretly hoped you’d say different :) )
