AA Flow-Thrus Should Require a Degree

American Airlines should change their flow programs to require their regional pilots to have a 4-year degree before they are eligible to flow.

The benefit is obvious: it would make American pilots more educated like Delta pilots which, in turn, would make AA a better, smarter company. Also, AA wholly-owned pilots should be required to wear hats.

Insert sound of very impressive fishing cast with the splash of the rig at the end.

Sounded to me like a different kind of splash

But then how would all the people with multiple check ride failures, college drop-outs and convicted felons get to their dream job?

Haven't you heard? The pilot shortage that is going to affect every legacy carrier will leave a seat open for anyone that wants it.

Judging by recent mishaps, a more urgent need is for the majors to get people who have actually HAND FLOWN an aircraft and not just been FMS programmers.

That may actually be more valuable than a degree in submerged Native American textile fabrication.

Actually AA regional pilots are already American Airlines pilots. Calling them regional pilots is really a misnomer. Especially those aviators rated in the E170/190. AA should actually just get rid of the standard paychecks for them and house them in barracks until they flow.

Well, geez, if you're gonna house them instead of pay them, then you might as well put them all back in Seminoles as well.

Not gonna lie, barracks and a meal card would save alot of cash. Just gotta make sure there's a Class Six close by.

If you have dependents, can you get out of the barracks and thus be awarded basic allowance for housing? Pilots with families might actually come out ahead at Envoy.
