The success of the 550 could make remaining 700s in the world very valuable.
Some Delta CRJ 200s could be parked early depending on how fast 9e can ramp up for the gojet 700s and new 900s.

Yea... NYC big on unions. If I were OO, I’d avoid it too.

I think it’s a speed issue, that whole 270kts above 10k/ 220kts below 10k does jive well.
Hell it drives me nuts that they taxi with just the APU in MSP, imagine what would happen in NYC.

Not sure there’s anything special about a 550. The question is whether routes exist with enough premium demand to support a 76 seater configured at 50 seats. You could do that with a 175 just as easily.

Except for scope. Makes it far from just as easy

The 50 seat scope at United has a max weight of 65,000lbs, so they have to restrict 10,000lbs off of the CRJ700 and certify it as a CRJ550. The E-170 weighs 85,000lbs (someone who flies it can give a more precise number here), so in order to make it a 50 seat aircraft, you’d be bringing down the max certified weight down by 20,000lbs. The E175 is already restricted by 3000lbs to meet scope, if you wanted to make the E175 a 50 seat aircraft, you’d have to bring the weight down by an additional 21,000lbs.

There is now a finite amount of 700s.
