Yep, and all you need for proof is all those idiots on The Air Wisconsin CRJ200 thinking they were on an actual United aircraft with United workers. All their tweets were addressed to “United” and complaining about the drunk “United” employee. They honestly had no clue they were on an Air Wisconsin aircraft or what “Regional” actually means.

At the major it only seems to happen when we're weight restricted and can't carry any bonus gas (or the tanks are simply full on a long flight).
The regionals have a quota for CANX and delayed flights. Their business model is such that they try to achieve their quota... if they have no CANX or delayed flights, they are wasting money which they are not contractually obligated to spend. Rather than customer brand loyalty, they are shooting for minimum contractual parameters. I've literally seen them opt to not repo an available plane with available reserves simply because it was late in the month and their metrics were good so it was cheaper not to bother and spend the money.
Majors tend to strive for brand loyalty, so they will try to minimize delays and CANX at all times. There is of course a limit to how much they'll spend to prepare for the worst (ie nobody staffs enough reserves for major weather catastrophes, or has enough spare planes laying around the system to recover smoothly from things like that).

I get it. Customer service is not very good. Just from jumpseating a lot, we see it first hand.
But when they say there are 65 regionals and biggest ones are Mesa and PSA, it’s hard to take them seriously. Or when they say that more E-17’s are coming and they are horrible for putting them on long non-stop routes. Umm pretty sure there never use to be a non-stop from Madison to SFO. When I went to school in North Dakota, I would have loved the non-stop from Fargo to Dallas that exists now.
Getting RJ’s to be flown by mainline? They would complain about something.

Had a pax ask if we could get a bigger plane from LGA to CLT and I asked if he would prefer a center seat instead of his window seat. He didn't understand what a center seat was until I explained he'd have another passenger on each side of him fighting for the arm rest. Shut him up real quick.

You mean not as good customer service as forcing a person to stick their dog up in the overhead bins, which then obviously dies. Yep, Regionals have a long way to go to match that stellar customer service.
