Couple Eagle questions
#1
Hi guys, looking for some updated info about AE, haven't seen much about them lately.
Just wondering how things are over there these days, are a lot of people leaving or does it seem like decent place to be? It seems one of the 'worst' things is the upgrade time which even that appears to be coming down a bit now that things are moving. The choosing base before training is what's appealing to me, so just wanted to find out a little bit about how things are there.
Also, do you fly more than just from your base? For example if you're based in BOS, do you fly just out of there or fly all over wherever the equipment you fly goes? Hope that makes sense.
Thanks in advance!

my buddy flies the atr out of san juan and he is happy there. upgrade at its shortest is going to be 3-4 yrs down the road and its currently in the ballpark of 7. they are desperate for pilots like almost every regional right now. you would make more at another regional with a shorter upgrade to captain. you also do have the potential for American to spread the regional feed to other carriers in the future kind of what continental did or is doing to expressjet. Nothing definitive yet or in the next couple months. I think American was "reviewing their regional contracts" or some BS like that. seems to be a sweet deal with the predetermined bases.

Eagle is a great company, I live in BOS so the base gaurantee is very appealing. My good friend started with them a year ago. Hes in BOS, currently holding a line, and loving it. Pay is good too. Upgrade is still7-8 years but maybe will drop to 4-5. I had a prescreening interview with them and they told me to get 700TT. I have 450 and 100ME right now. They wont budge on their minimums like most of the regionals, however, they are trying to hire 700 pilots this year like everyone else, so I wouldnt be surprised if that comes down to 500-600TT. The interview and medical isnt as in depth as it used to be either. When I met with Eagle, they were extremely nice and a 1st class operation.

I came to Eagle in November after 18 months at PSA and have no regrets. The only downside is the corprate culture which values things more than people. Based in BOS you'll do mostly east coast flying, we run the RDU hub on BOS based crews, and you do trips out of LGA and JFK too. As a reserve pilot you could be sent anywhere in the system. My classmates have flow DFW & ORD trips & I flew out of LAX for a couple days. (Excellent flying, btw. Absolutely loved it.)
If you want to stay in BOS, Eagle is the place to go. Colgan & BigSky are not in the same league when it comes to QOL, and Colgan values thier people even less than Eagle does, from most accounts.

I am in class now. I like the place. Everyone hear is great and the moral is quite good. The class I am in has about half captains and half FO. We are really low when it comes to pilots and they are cutting some of the flying out of LAX because of the lack of pilots. I recommend coming here.

I am in my Sim's now. Checkride next Fri. RipEagle I know an FO that would love for you to come to LGA so he will be off ready reserve come July bid.
Personally, I think you should come to BOS, help put me further from ready reserve
So, no complaints here, pay in training is pretty good too. EMB is quite the aircraft, technology wise. So we'll see what its like on the line. BTW all EMB in LGA.

Eagle flies the EMB 140 and EMB 135 out of LGA. There is no training contract. From LGA, we do a lot of flying. Eagle is a good place to work and the upgrade time "may" come back down from outerspace.
