See, The DCA approach is easy

There are some approaches where you are more or less committed to land when you descend below MDA, even if you are VMC.
When I was flying in Switzerland our MDA on the IGS approach into LUG/LSZA was 1070 feet AGL. At this altitude you were protected in case of an engine failure during the go-around. If you had to go around below this and blew an engine all bets were off.
I think that is what was meant by point of no return approaches. Mountain approaches like ASE are not quite just like all other approaches, but sort of. Follow the rules and you will be safe. Break the rules and you are on your own. Like the guy HMP mentions.

If I am correct a few Skywest crews get a special checkout sort of speak in the sim to be familier with the go around/ single engine procedures for flying into Aspen.

I have heard that Skywest's ASE procedures include a statement to the effect that performance to maintain obstacle clearance is not guaranteed during a go-around, and also that Skywest has no engine-inoperative balked landing procedure there. Is that accurate?
I've also heard the feds have pulled SKW's authorization to fly the 700 into ASE a couple times. Is that true, and if so, what is the status of it?

(turn down the volume for this one... I didn't add the "singing")
try this one... it may be a straight-in, but you'll work for it!
