Mod note:

I would like to remind users in this thread about TOS and profanity. We don't allow profanity at APC and the common reference to what's supposed to happen on Friday's is not appropriate for the forums. I'd hate to see this mother of all mesaba threads shut down over a few users misjudgements. Thanks.

^^^ Really? Wow I've seen much worse, after all, this is APC.

MEM street ca will definitely be displaced, I feel sorry for you guys... can't catch a break. Also, good luck to all and those teetering on the edge. Delta just laid a big steamer on our lawn.

Anyone know if voluntary furloughs are recalled before involuntaries? Also what are the benefits of taking a voluntary?

No, All recalls are by seniority order only, nothing to do with voluntary/involuntary. The benefit is that you control your own life. If you don't get furloughed but your at the bottom of the list you might end up commuting to another base to sit reserve... some people would rather be furloughed than do this.

On another note... as I was reading about our furloughs the following add popped up next to the thread... how can this type of advertising possibly be legal??

It went on to state that you could go from 0 to airline pilot in only 6 months and that the program was only $43K... and a few other "facts" I can't remember.

Just thought some of you could use a good laugh!

Well the most junior street CA is a JAN 08 hire date and has 200 below him on the list. So with this announcment he wont get furloughed. We will all be displaced, along with about 30 more Saab CAs.

Sorry to all those in the bottom 110. I have met quite a few that have already been furloughed once(some twice). Alot of really good guys in that group.

How 'bout a furlough party in MEM???

I don't know what you are referring to when you say we will all be displaced but you would not be displaced unless you were hired after June 11, 2007 if they displace 75 Saab CAs because the 75th Saab CA who will be displaced is a June 11 2007 hire. Even then, if your are a Saab FO chances you would not be displaced further until we get some more bad news like parking more Saabs without any replacement aircraft coming in.

No Problem. My heart goes out to each and every one of you who are about to be furloughed. I know what it's like to be furloughed. I was furloughed from my previous job and it was not fun but I made the best of it by spending more time with my girlfriend, traveling and working part time. Let's hope the furlough will be a short one.
