We've stopped hiring since DL decided to only give us 5 airplanes instead of the 15 they originally awarded us. Newhire classes have been cancelled as well.

Default Line Hours

Has anyone noticed (at least for the 200) that the line hours have been reduced in February to under 75 credit hours from the previous month of over 80 credit hours per line. Anyone know if this is normal for the season or if it might be an indication of some sort.

That might be just for CRJ200s because CRJ900 lines have normal hours above 75 hours. Also this is the slow season. I would not read too much into it. CRJ900 is doing the bulk of the flying because CRJ200s are not as fuel efficient or as comfortable as CRJ900s for anything longer than a 45 minute duration. The CRJ200s are probably going away eventually back to 9e.

That's why they were going to release 6 of the captain seatlocks on the 200 for the 900 award that was cancelled. Expect the 200 to remain overstaffed or see a displacement/realignment bid to adjust it along with the Saab....

Last month there were about 5 (give or take one or two) more Reserve lines than there are this month... but there is no one on green lines anymore. It makes sense for them to spread all of the flying around to more pilots, and keep everyone under 75 credit because they have to pay each of us minimum guarantee any way, and with so many of us sitting around with our thumbs up our asses... it saves them money in the long run

For example 89 pilots: 30 of them make 85 hours the remaining 59 make guarantee. Total hour pay out is: 6975 hours ((30x85)+(59x75)).

But if all 89 only make guarantee the total hour pay out is only: 6675 (89x75)

Thats 300 hours of pay they've saved right there.

I realize that this is notwithstanding picking up open time/ junior manned, etc. But it still makes sense because traditionally people that are already blocking over 75 are able to pick up open time, etc.

So its to the companies benefit to keep as many people below guarantee as possible, if they're going to keep us on pay role any way.

What articles? Let's see them.

I assume that magizine articles now have precedence over contracts mutally agreed upon by labor unions.

Another one who thinks he knows everything.
Considering how much and what you post I'll consider this irony.

Oh I know this, I've been in the loop since the beginning of November. I even had someone walk in my resume directly to Barb Martin (they're on very good terms), but didn't hear anything and then finally got this e-mail. I just thought it was strange because of how late it was after they announced the cancelations.

Just received the following from Mesaba HR:

"The latest projection for new hire classes is late summer. I don’t know the numbers or aircraft at this time but I just wanted to keep you all informed as I learn new information. As you all know all things are subject to change on short notice in this business. I will keep in touch as any new information becomes available. Please keep me posted with your current information and status. Thanks."
