Sounds like 100 of us are heading back to the CFI life maybe....did JR say anything about when they will be making the decisions?

"JR" Joe Restifo is a clown (as most airline managers / chief pilots are). Face the fact that all of us "new hires" (many of us - including myself - 2000+ hour pilots) are not in good shape. As a matter of fact, no pilot is in this economy is. Mesaba thought that we were untouchable in these airline times (last 18 months), and HELLO!!~! we are. I think that this is just the beginning (3 airline guy here. 2 furlough guy here, P*ssed guy here ) of a new storm of tough luck in the biz. Delta might realign along the lines of who is the best (least cost) and we may all find ourselves (new hires, last 18 months) in a real sticky place. Good luck to all - and may 2008 be a ****** year fort none - and a less ****** year for the rest - Smalls!

A few friendly questions for the Mesaba Saab guys...

I'll preface with the fact that I'm starting a new commute out of SAW to ATL.

Is there always a few seats that are unusable because of W&B? If so does anyone ever actually sit in the j/s?

What is the best way to list for the j/s?

Also wondering what the x-wind limit?
THanks

Yes, there are usually if not always a few seats unavailable due to W/B. Typically no one ever sits in the jumpseat (FAA excluded), again due to W/B. The max crosswind component is 35kts and as far as listing goes the easiest right now is at the gate until we are integrated into Delta's automated system. Good luck with the commute, it can be tough out of KSAW sometimes.

Thanks for the info.

I was curious about the x-wind because flights were supposedly canceled over the holidays for x-wind; didn't sound right to me.

Im pretty sure most of michigan including SAW had been experiencing winds directly out of the west around 30 gusting 40+ for a few days there. That mixed in with possibly so so runway conditions... well thats maybe it especially only having one runway 1/19. Dont know for sure.

I was paying minimal attention, also the wind out there can be drastically different from what it is in town.

Just two more reasons why I only ready these boards once a month, if that. Grow up kids.
