Saabaroowski. Welcome back. We missed your advise and council. I understand inflation in the Italian red wine industry is rampant because of you consumption while visiting. I hope my investment in "Old Pizano" pays off.

Now re the thread. Regionals are getting more and more 76-90 seat airplanes; it's a difficult trend to stop. How would limiting Mesaba (and not all regionals) to 36 CRJ900s benefit "the industry."

The problem is every Legacy with the exception of Continental was forced by their management to give up scope, under the guise of cutbacks in a post 9/11 environment. It's absolutely ridiculous what they did in the name of cutbacks and survival. Incidentally CAL survived without giving up scope.

Now we have management at all these airlines farming out flying to improve the bottom line without any concern about what having a company like mesa may do to their branding, or without any concern about their employees.

At the regional level, you got guys that are salivating at the chance of flying something bigger, without thought of what it means down the line for them. The regional jet should have stayed at 50 seats; imagine how many folks would be flying at a major/legacy right now!

Not knowing where the AVRO's were in the first place (sorry for my ingorance), or where the '9's go now, what might the route structure look like? More mid-west routes, east coast, or maybe the mountain west? Maybe Canada or Mexico?

Glad to be back...............I just hope with the Open Skies, the Age 65, and now the continuing trend of regionals getting more and more larger airplanes I will be able to move on................... Pre-911 it was very achievable to get a mainline job, now with Open Skies, Regionals flying LARGE aircraft and now AGE 65 it may be a long hard road, either way I will be here to the end..............:o

Here's an old route map when the Avro's were in full force. CR9's can't do the mountain routes though.

Personally, I wish they wouldn't. Historically and realistically, NWA has never not exercised their full options on aircraft (expect for the Avros due to NWAPLA preventing more than 36).
