Thanks for all the input guys. I know that some flight schools sponsors, but I think if I have to flightistruct for 4-6 years I will end up shooting myself at some point. I always saw people getting sick of instructing after about a year. Me signing up a contact to flight instruct untill I get my greencard might not be too smart. Not saying that hey I should get the same previledges, but I know going instrction route for that long might be a disaster. That happened someone I know. He got on with a part 141 shcool. After he instruted there for a year and a half he found out it wll be anoter 4 years before he could get his greencard. By than he was already sick of instructing, so he finally said screw this and left. So really to be honest I have to say there's no way I can handle instucting for 4-6 years. Especally consideing there's no gurantee that I will get my greencard at the end and sometims it takes longer than that to get the card. One of my uncle went to school here and than he worked for 6 years with sponsor from the employer. 6 years later INS said now go home and we will give you greencard at US embassy. When he got there they said no we are not interestd anymore. So I don't think it will be smart to invest 6 years of my life with that much uncertainty. I know a lot of people that stayed here with employer sponsor and I learned from all of them unless you get a great job don't take it cause eventully you regret.

P.S. - There are several guys at my old flight school who started as students and have stayed there 6+ years, some foreign, some not. It's not THAT bad...and if it gets what you need than more power to it.

Here's the deal with Flight Instructing for a university. The fact that you're going to have to stay there for a long period of time can work for you. They will be more likely to move you up into more "management" positions where the instructing is much easier and you make more money. If you can suck it up for a year, you can open the door as an ACI (usually salaried) or Check Instructor. Then all you have to do is sit around and watch other people's students f*ck up. WAAAAAAAY easier than actually teaching.

Hello. I need some serious advise as all my attempt to get any info about what I need to know has failed.
I'm currently working to build flight time. I have FAA Commecial Multi with Instrument, AGI, FCC and BSc in Aviation in the US. I have a US work permit that expires next February which doesn't have re-entry previlidges.
I'd like to stay in US and work. The only way I can stay here beyond February 2008 is if an US employer sponsors me for an H-1B work pemit which have unlimited re-entry previledges to US. This kind of work permit requires that the job is salary based with full benifits.
Once I get the work permit I will have to continue to work for the same employer for up to 5 years untill I get a Green Card, which is fine with me.
Every regionals I talked to said they won't even take my resume unless I'm a US resident, but I'm not able to apply for residency unless I get sponsored for a work permit first by an US employer. Of course evey regional airline is totally capable of sponcering me, but I'm not able to get a hold of the right kind of inside man for that. At this point I'll take a job with any regonals in a heart beat to fly anything.
If I have to go back home than my flying carries is over as I won't be able to get a medical. Getting ICAO medical is a pain and if your eye is not 20/20 without correctie leses they only pass you if your eye is not worse than a certain level. Mine is worse than what they allow, but with FAA I can get my medical easy as FAA issues you a Class A as long as you can see 20/20 with corrective lenses.
Any one got any advise/ideas to what are my best options?
