Don't the E170's I see in PHL all the time belong to Republic? I may have that wrong, I've sort of lost track of the USAir commuters (even though I used to work for one).

Oh I see. OK, next question: Who would mad about that, and why? I'm asking because:
1) I live in PHL, and I would like to see every airline have a PHL base.
2) I'm about to go work for AWAC and hopefully be based at PHL, so I'm wondering if I should start getting mad about this now. It's hard to keep track of who to be ****ed-off at these days, but I want to make sure I get it right.

I think mainline and whiskey wouldn't enjoy it too much.

It likely won't affect AWAC at all, if it does happen.

Opening a PHL domicile for Republic is just a way for them to save on the dozens of nightly hotel rooms there as they have MANY daily flights in PHL and have for some time. AWAC is and probably will be the dominant 50 seat Express carrier in PHL for years to come, and it is our largest base by a wide margin.

Doesn't hurt that AWAC owns a fair share of mainline to begin with.

The 50 seat jets are on the chopping block according to Airways. I know it is not like they are going to get rid of them over night, but they want to phase them out with newer and larger aircraft.

Actually, I believe when Whiskey saved their butts by purchasing a bunch of UsAir stock, part of the deal was that they got flying for the next 10 years, so I don't see that happening any time soon. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong....BoilerUp maybe?

that's exactly right. definitely the 50 seat rj is not as profitable as the 70+ seaters, but until AWAC won't find home for those 50seat rj, we'll be flying them for USAir for the next 8 years.
