What to bring?
#1
i know each airline is different, and i know it is posted SOMEWHERE on here (but i couldnt find it)....but i thought i would ask:
IN GENERAL:
what is required to bring for an interview. i have seen several things, but i also saw things like "college or highschool transcript".....GEEZ, i have been out of HS for 20 years and college for almost the same.....do they really want this FOR SURE? or do they differentiate between the 23 year olds getting their first job and an oldre guy......?
anyway, a list would be nice...what is required?
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pilot Certificates
Current 1st Class Medical (most require that you have a current 1st class before you start class.)
Logbook(s)
Passport
Driver's License
Current Resume
Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
Official copy of driving record from DMV (if they ask for it)
Social Security card (some companies)
Recommendation letters (if you have any)
ATP Written (some companies don't require it for the interview)
and.. several color copies of all of the above.
as for the transcripts.. only one company out of the four I interviewed with asked for it.. but I don't know if they even looked at it. No one else even asked me anything about HS/college grades.

You will need to bring many things, some of which will take weeks to get hold of so start tracking them down now. I couldn't find last years thread on this subject, so I'll try to list everything I can think of. Various airlines will have slightly different requirements, but they mostly will need this stuff...
License(s)
Medical (CURRENT 1st class, not lapsed to 2C)
Driver's License
Passport
Birth Cert
DD 214
HS Transcript & Diploma
College Transcript(s) & Diploma(s)
List of residence addresses (at least 10 years)
List of employers w/ contacts (at least 10 years)
References (three)
Letters of reference (from pilots, examiners, military superiors, etc)
National Drivers Record (recent)
List of all tickets (at least 10 years, estimate if you don't have exact dates)
List of ANY non-traffic criminal convictions, with supporting documents.
Awards/recognitions
Military awards
Resume
Original Logbooks w/ endorsements
Printouts from e-logbooks are also good, but still bring originals.
ATP written if required (FE if they operate jurasics).
Any forms they ask you to fill out in advance.
Bring originals, plus 5 copies. The transcripts will need to be certified...these are usually sealed in an envelope, so might as well order a bunch while you're at it. Organize it all in folders and carry it in a briefcase. I'm sure I forgot some stuff.

I graduated in 1986. Still have my diploma. Actually, it hangs with my "grade school", and my college diplomas in my office. What can I say, I'm sentimental.
Anyway, get in contact with the admin. office at your high school (yeah, maybe they have a web site), and they will send a certified copy of your transcripts, and a diploma if you need it. Might charge a fee. I know SWA wants the SEALED transcripts from college. I forget if they wanted the high school ones. Someone wanted them though, 'cause I have them also.
United?

P.S. If you get the transcripts, get TWO sets!!! One you can open, and the other keep sealed for the company. They might want to discuss some things on your grades, or whatever, and you'd be better prepared to answer if you know what is in there.
Are you interviewing with someone? They will tell you what to bring to the interview.

Well, good luck. Are you sending your stuff out? DON"T WAIT 'til you're out!
I am sure you know that. There are guys out there interviewing now, so they will have the job lined up when they finish!
I do not have a military background (unless you count two weeks of HELL in Harligen), but I met a few military guys at the SWA interview, and they were still in, but getting ready to get out.

They are not too worried about your HS grades, it's more about wanting to make sure you're really YOU. Even before 911 there were a few ex-drug pilots who got hired at majors by modifying/falsifying their background.
