I'm almost through training at Colgan, I just found out my base about two weeks ago. I bid IAH, TYR, then assorted places in the northeast. I ended up getting Jamestown, NY, which was pretty far down my list.
From everything I'm told, it doesn't take long at all to get the base you want, but who knows. It all depends on how much movement happens at that base, and how many people want it.

But, nobody from my class got IAH or TYR, so the rest really didn't matter. If somebody junior to me had been awarded IAH before me, then I'd be ****ed. As it is, it's no big deal. I'd have had to move either way.
Plus, if you aren't comfortable with the idea of moving around, you don't need to be an airline pilot.

I'm pretty sure that's what they did with us, since guys junior to me got bases that were farther up on my list than what I got.
