I ask because my airline and at least two others I know do exactly that. Are they outliers?

Some places like Spirit still hand out stuff they expect you to know day one. Most everybody hired there has jet and part 121 experience. I realize that they may have started hiring CFIs, but I am sure the ability to self study is carefully assessed during the selection process.

‘Not really. If they did, it would be a a week to 2 out. Not enough time to effectively learn Limitations, Flows, and Call Outs ontop of doing stuff, running errands, maybe ATP-CTP to study for the ATP written in order to be ready to start Day 1 of Indoc…

My airline did not send out any materials before indoc started. There was no information released to us until after indoc that pertained to the aircraft or procedures (FOM, SOPM, AOM, AFM, ect.).

Normally in the past FO hiring market your resignation may only have been in issue if you tried to reapply at that same airline. But others would have snatched you up. Unfortunately the hiring market on the FO side has become much more competitive. Not sure if you have been following, but some regionals put a pause on zero Part 121 hour new hire FOs while others have drastically reduced class frequency and size of their classes. With your history it may cause your application to go to the bottom of the pile in the selection process. But then again it never hurts to apply.

Yeah, that’s why I was foolish to resign. I was part of a FO over hire class, but didn’t know it at the time. Our class suspected something had changed based on initial base awards. I much appreciate everyone’s advice. I’m going to start part-time CFI work again. That will get me proficient, allow me to earn a few extra bucks, and it’s something I enjoy. I’m also going to pursue an MEI add on. Hopefully, in six to twelve months, the Regional’s will turn FO hiring back on and I will take another swing then. If that doesn’t work out I will try something like PlaneSense to expand my experience.
