I never really believed the whole "polarized" thing in regards to the glass cockpit, but once I started flying the airbus, I had to get rid of mine it was so bad. Fo Reals

I dunno, I've been flying with a pair of polarized Maui Jims in glass cockpits for about 6 years now. Every now and then there's some minor aggravation like discoloration of the windscreen in certain planes with certain with windshield heat settings but nothing enough to make me even consider getting different sunglasses.

I ususlly manage to smash my RayBans every 12 or 15 months, but my current pair has held up for two years now.

They have polarized lenses and aside from the FMS/EFIS displays disapearing if I tilt my head 90 degrees and one FMS display that showed up in green and yellow with my shades on rather than blue and white I've had no issues. I'm back in an analog cockpit now so it doesn't matter any way.

The thin profile on the arms also helps my headset maintain a solid seal to keep out the noise.

I bought my first pair of Oakleys recently (Gascan) and the things that keep them over your ears already will not remain connected to the frame. I haven't even attempted to wear them while flying.

Bought a nice pair of Ray Ban's the other day, $119. Has a light brown tint on the upper part of the lense and then fades to a clearer tint which helps to read the instruments when looking down. Check em' out.

Bought a pair of $9 sunglasses a month ago at WallyWorld. They fit great AND block all the sunlight out! Plus, when they fall out of my shirt pocket while I'm pulling the nose pin, I don't have a need to get worried.

Ray Ban makes a pair that looks like the Oakley's at the beginning of this thread except it's a full frame. I swear by 'em. If you ask enough, they'll throw in a hardcase so they sit perfectly happy in my laptop bag on trips without ever getting scratched, damaged, etc.

My Oakley's just dissapeared from the face of the Earth about a week ago after about 14 months which is right on schedule for me. This thread popped up at just the right time Can you get a decent pair for $100 anymore?
