Default The Future of mesaba?

Is it worth applying to mesaba? What direction is this company going in? How are the reserve periods, upgrade times, etc?

Growth mode. Taking on a lot of jets at the moment. Should have short reserve times. I just finished all my training on the SAAB and have 190 between me and the guys in upgrade class now. Good group of guys. I'm enjoying it.

If you don't mind me asking, what type of times did you have when you were hired? How are base assignments looking? When are the jets showing up?

Falcon....I would say now is probably the best time to get on with Mesaba. The future is anyone's guess. Northwest can be fickle and you can expect to be pitted against 9E and Compass. But getting hired at the front end of a growth wave can be very good for career progression. I got hired in early April if I remember correctly. I just finished indoc, crm and gen subjects. On to systems next week. Everyone is positive right now. If you have 650tt/50multi send in your resume, we do need pilots.

Since NWA owns both Mesaba and Compass......guess what. You will be nothing but pawns to NWA mgt.

thats what i have been saying. things will be good at mesaba for the next year or two, and then the cycle will start over. one guy earlier said being owned by nwa means everything. lucky for us we have all been Pwned by nwa, its just mesabas turn this time.

overall though things will be good at mesaba for a bit and if i wanted to go there i would get in as fast as possible.

Until you are sold to RAH. After all, they are "bottom feeders".

Poster's note: This is total sarcasm.

I am in simland for the Saab--hire date of May 28th and I was just assigned to Minneapolis with a move date of October 1. Very good group of pilots and instructors. I was hired with 1800/50. We have been told that upgrades are about 18 months but could be shorter but I agree with others here, it might be another cycle but we are on the good side of it right now so send in your app.
