the money makers are soft pay. Long sits, extended duty period over 10 hours, reroutes. That and 401K contributions would be way more pay than just getting a higher hourly rate

yep, temporary pause due to Boeing/Airbus/P&W issues..... just like covid paused hiring.

it will bounce back and there's about 5-8 years left of the shortage in 121 (varying by carrier)

Which is why unions should be pressuring their HR departments to be using the E3 and EB-3 visas. There are a lot of regional pilots as well as pilots at Atlas, National, etc. who are occupying pilot slots that could go to US workers.

You also misinterpreted what was said. It was primarily about not losing pay through whipsaw/concessions which will be coming once the shortage is actually over.

Folks like you said getting paid more than what we were paid 10 years ago "wasn't sustainable" but it sure looks like it actually was after all, doesn't it.

Look, A rising tide lifts all boats. Stop trying to put others down, and instead help them, and use their success to build upon at your shop to help yourself too.

What you just said was - in effect - that RJ pilots are paid more per passenger than mainline pilots. Maybe you should fix that and get paid more. I'd use the ratio pay/passenger and push for raises at your job rather than trying to justify management cutting RJ pilots pay.
Yea, mainline MGT had fed a line of bull puckey for decades that they couldn't afford to pay "mainline" pay/benefits (in particular to the WO carriers) . Now the "regionals" have seen 60 percent pay raises plus retention pay and the mainline parent companies still rake in billions in profits . They only have to put 20 to 30 people on the 70/76 seaters to make money . They charge full market value for tickets even though a customer's flight segment/s might be on a 70/76 seater. It's always been a sham since day 1 when Jimmy Carter signed the Airline Deregulation act back in 78' . Comair pilots had the right idea trying to fight for what was right against the fascist MGT but they just were never able to have the leverage that the effects of Covid brought to the industry in the form of better pay .

Why on earth would there be any sort of discount on a flight segment because its flown on a 70/76 seater?

Yes, the numbers don't lie (baring massive recession or black swan).
