Pinnacle @ DTW

It has been a week since the last PNCL thread- Traveljunky just lives to talk crap about the company. The company is not the best, and I would NEVER steer somewhere here if they were looking for a "career regional". I am planning on 3 years total at this place to get my upgrade, 1000 TJPIC, and get out. In the mean time the pilot group is great, most of the FA's are cool- escpecially the MEM ones because they have the "memphis attitude" (I grew up here so I can say it
). The fleet is all jet, and upgrade happens as soon as you have the time/age- seniority is a nonissue (unless you are really needing to hold a line). I am not going to sit here and recruit for PNCL and -like I have said before- if I had to commute I probrably would not have applied here in the first place, but the company fits all my needs and I will stick it out. The contract is amendable and we are down to the last and biggest disagreement- the MONEY. I get by now and will just get by better when either a contract shows up or I upgrade (hoping for a contract sooner rather than later). Traveljunky has a few supporters around here with the same suspicious comments- either they are bitter because they came and failed (either the interview or NH training) or they cannot talk like professionals and feel that their regional is better and won't give any credit where it is due (I think its officially called an EGO), or better yet- just put things up on the board that they heard 3rd hand. There are enough PNCL pilots on this board to set the record straight and not one will claim the company is great (as long as they have been on rsv at least a month
) but all are in it for the short term to make the big step to other places.
Back to the original post- the DTW hub is the largest for NWA (international gateway) and is also new. The base is junior and is the main commuter base so holding a good schedule there comes quick.
The real question for PNCL will be the -900 flying that is coming in november. Depending on where the base is there could be problems with staffing.

I'm DTW based and agree with the previous comments. Fun base to fly out of, very well laid out airport. For example no waiting for the alley to clear to get in to the gate. The rampers often walk like dead zombies, but I'm guessing that's everywhere. The crews are fun, the flying is good, and I got a total of one month of reserve mixed with trips.
Now, on the other hand, I don't know wtf is going in with hiring. They are hemmoraging pilots faster than they can bring them in, and they started this internal rec progam, and now it appears that all HR wants is jet U type people. I just recommended a friend and former coworker with a letter of rec and his well put together resume and cover letter...he's got about 700TT and 40 multi. Nothing incredible, but people are getting hired from ATP et. al. with much less. Here's the E-mail response they just sent him:
Thanks so much for your interest in Pinnacle Airlines! Your resume has
been processed and at this time we would like to encourage you to
obtain more flying hours and attend a Jet training program.
Currently, we have bridge programs in place with CAE, RAA, WMU, Jet-U,
Flight Safety, and ATP. We have also conducted interviews and accepted
students from Embry-Riddle and UND.
We will look forward to meeting you in the future. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you again for your interest.
Sincerely,

Now I'm not necessarily saying he had a ton of time, but if we are having staffing issues, it just seems odd to me that they are so obsessed with the Jet-U and ATP stuff. Just my 2 cents.
