you know, i always thought CAPFlight were the civil air patrol boys doing work in those lil airplanes of theirs...

But hey, does ATP get you a degree in aeronautics or crap like embry? just curious. Can't remember the numbers now, but i believe my college was just under 60 grand for 4.5 years, all ratings, and a degree that is absolutely worthless.

"I have no particular problems with the school"

I only really have a problem with the way they market the career and the 90 day program. What gets me at the other fourm is the ATP guys think there is no other place can touch what they do there and loans aren't an issue. In reality, many good FBO's around the country could beat the price and you could probably find a CFI that wasn't a PPL 90 days ago to go along with it.

"does ATP get you a degree in aeronautics"

No, they are a part 61 flight academy. No degree.

I fly for CAP on my off-time and we are the only ones that I knew of that used that call sign. Little hell, I flew (and still fly) their monster of a 206. I LOVE IT! If it wasn't for the $300 gas bill every time we filled up I would consider buying one.

Anyway, for anyone that is considering the CAP, it is a great way to log some ultra-free time after you jump through the hoops. I flew 6.8 in a day just doing Orientation flights and logging X-country. It can get monotonous, but hey...its free. Thanks Air Force!

How much is ATP really getting from people for this? Just curious.

Its $6,000, which blows my mind. You can get a 737 type for that and have something tangible. Instead of paying $6000 to get training that is FREE when you get hired.

Supporting your local FBO would help out general aviation and put pilot mills out of service.
