Pinnacle Training Study Guide
#11
I actually did not know anyone at Pinnacle until I got here. I set up all my interviews before I went to any of them, and it just worked out best that Pinnacles fell on the earliest date. I personally have always thought Pinnacle was a better choice then Mesaba, but that, I realize, is my own personal opinion.
I also would much rather fly on a CRJ then a Saab. I remember walking down the terminal in DTW, CRJ's on one side, the Saab's on the other. It was a night and day difference, not just between jet/turbo prop, but also the maintenance. The Saab's all looked beat down and old. I know they are older, but that doesn't mean they have to look like it.

MaxRampW8, If you are worried about the systems, pick up these 2 books.

Most check airman will pull up the overhead panel (for example) and ask about each switch. The Avsoft study guide does a great job of explaining each switch. Don't worry about it too much, the instructors does a great job doing a group review each day, and before ground school is over you will get a check airman that comes to class to do a mock oral.

MaxRamp,
If you can get a rough copy of the actual Bombardier Systems
manual from some or the company library, it explains the systems much better and gives a little more info which would be beneficial in your oral. I think you can check it out of our library at the training center, atleast we use too. But the other references are good too and probalbly easier to get a hold of.
Oh by the way Pinnacle is a great place to work. Sounds like you made a great decision. Good luck with training..

MaxRampW8, on my oral he went through the flight deck inspection asking what each switch does, etc. As far as systems go..like I said before just know the basics. I thought I knew the systems well, and I did, but they will ALWAYS find something you don't know...just like any oral. So as long as you have a good working knowledge, and sounds like you do, you'll be fine. Just don't dig a hole...normal oral stuff.
My time at Pinnacle has been great as well. Don't listen to all the crap. I live in MEM and am still on reserve, but life has been great! Not commuting is awesome and even though I do deadhead up to DTW frequently, it's stress free b/c I'm guaranteed as seat both ways and I catch up on sleep. You'll like it here, the pilot group is great and the flying is fun. Good luck on the oral/sims!

Use the GFS, pull up the schematics if you are confused about a certain system. Talk to other people in classes ahead of you, they will tell you all you need to know and look over the study guides you are given. Good Luck.
