Until this thread, I hadn't read or heard too many negatives about AWAC. I guess every carrier has its good points and its bad points though. The prospects of commuting to PHL or DCA never seemed that bad to me. I live in SDF and it's a short flight to either of those places. I always expected to need a hotel the night before a trip where ever I decided to work. I guess it depends on perspective.

Ok, so here goes
I'm from Boston (GO SOXS!!!)(at my current job we have a die hard twinkies fan and it's good fun to rub it in his face). I've narrowed down who I want to work for to Eagle, XJet, and air willy.
Now I know eagle is based there, and being only 22 it prob won't be a bad move, but it scares me to think that I could be capt. only in 7 to 10 years (I know the rumor has it that it's coming down, but who knows?). I know, I know, I'm young, and should wait around, but i would like to be capt sometime before I'm 30. But other then that it has to be a good company, plus QOL would be good living in base.
XJet is my all time favorite. We have a bunch of guys there now that love it there, from QOL to how they are treated to the ability to pick up flying, they talk about it like the cat's arse. Now, the only thing is commuting to EWR, that could suck, but it looks like there are alot of flight from BOS and PVD, so we'll see.
Now, the last one was AWAC. I know it's an all northeast for the most part. You guys had one of the best contracts, and I had old instructors love it there. Haven't spoken to them in a long time, but if you get your pay back, that'd be amazing. Also anyone care to chime in on how bad it'd be to commute to PHL or DCA from BOS? I just think this would be a good company to work for, but I'm open to input.
If anyone would care to give some advice based on those factors that'd be awesome thanks everyone.

BOS-DCA would be CAKE because of the US/Delta/Eagle shuttles. PHL-BOS would probably be pretty easy too.
If you live in SDF, definitely consider Chautauqua because nothing beats driving to work. That said, there are AWAC pilots that commute out of The Ville to both DCA and PHL, plus with PHL you have the UPS option to/from work.

In 1993 NWA management threatened bankruptcy and put out their hands. They pressured workers to make major concessions and asked the state of Minnesota to provide an $823 million loan at below-market interest rates. In return they promised to build a maintenance hub in economically depressed northern Minnesota which would employ some 900 mechanics. They got the loan but never built the facility. They have not repaid the loan and state officials refuse to even discuss its status.
Just a few I found. It's funny you make the whisky owners out like crooks - they aren't NEARLY as bad as your new employer.
Good luck @ Compass...driving to work at this job is nice. It doesn't look like your domicile would go anywhere...that is, until Compass is sold.
