This is why Colgan doesn't need a Union.

Those starry eyed FO's are pretty serious. I saw two at FSI in STL about 3 weeks ago decked out in full uniform, including the hat. Dudes were checking their email in the lab. Those guys are hardcore! I someday wish I could be cool enough to wear my hat at Flight Safety.

Lou's here. He was enjoying the sattelite base in ACY, until the union pulled the LOA. 21 days off, NO reserve, and 77 credit hours. (He still picked up some trips on his days off at 150%.)
And for "Ponch"(belliot):
Long story short, he took an airplane that the previous Capt. told him had a oil gauge problem (flickering). Had to come back to IAD. FAA got involved. Never was in the book. But the previous guy called ops to have MX meet the aircraft. FAA got wind of that too.
That's why when the previous crew comes in and says there is a problem with the aircraft, I say to put it in the book!!!

Saab, I have to agree, when I came to Colgan, you were just getting on with Xjet. I thought you were just a ****ed of whiner. I thought, an airline job is an airline job. But now, after 7 months on the line and upgrade in the near future, I hate this place. The resumes are out and as soon as someone bites, I'm gone. Preferably RAH. I would join you at Xjet, but I'm from the NE and IAH is the only base I would want. My friend at Xjet is based in EWR and after 2 years of the hassle and delays, he has a debate with himself at night. Does he put the bottle of beer or the barrel of his Glock in his mouth? Hopefully something other than Colgan will help me enjoy my job. Great Job, Crappy Career.

One other thing, here is a mx dream. I worked 5 legs the other day and we had mx on 4 of them. A flap failure, comm failure, door warning sys failure, and a capt audio panel. What a day. we had one more scheduled leg, but we timed out after sitting for three hours while the mighty system control worked something out. Then the mechanic shows up and taps it and says just plug into the jumpseat jacks and fly it out...then he says, come on man, that would be so much more convenient for us. How about a flight crews safety, esp with the track record of colgan and the cape and islands.
