I just did a Newark - Madrid flight without an APU. Hot in Newark and Madrid. No air carts, of course. The next day in Madrid the same 757 showed up for us to take back- with the same inop APU! It's bad enough to do ETOPS without an APU, but to not have air for the customers is bad for business. At least my landing was smooth.

Might I suggest that you refer to the delay for the reason;

traffic congestion
weather
runway outage
etc

See Otto's post.

Honestly bro with all due respect I think thats bull crap. First of all our paychecks are NOT big enough to listen to people who act that way towards us. It's almost like its acceptable behavior to act that way to airline employes now a days. Its like as passenger disrespect goes UP our paychecks do DOWN. Long story short, looking at them as part of my pay check doesn't help, hence I agree with SAAB, drop kick their imature disrectful ***'s!!!!!

Hey, I'm with ya, there are a few passengers out there who have unnaceptable behavior.

However -- if you think of it as I wrote above, I bet you'd be less stressed about it. Just from your post here it appears you are letting it get to you. You cannot let it get to you. Figure out a way to make it not get to you; your health depends on it. Don't let those pigs give you grey hairs!

whats wrong with apologizing, these people pay good money and they want to know we are doing everything we can do help them get there safely and on time, what could it hurt to say your sorry and make them feel like you care a little bit?

Just try to follow the golden rule...most of these people like to hear their own voice and they were probably bullied as a kid. Just smile, say thanks I'll take that into consideration and don't brake if you see them crossing the street.

I completely understand that pilots are underpaid, and at least on the regional level, overworked. That said - if you take a job willingly - ie you were not forced into it like Johnny Tremain - you need to act as though you are the high time guy at FedEx or Brown. It isn't just pilots - it is anyone who works. People that work for me want more money, and explain they would do better work/take better care of the customers with a promotion/raise, etc. My thinking is - you agreed to take the job for the offered pay - your performance should be consistant - show me you will do the job well and the promotions will come. This isn't a great analogy because flying is nota meritocracy, but most of the principals apply. The key isn't what you are being paid, the key is your acceptance of the job for the stated wages. The passengers do not understand, nor care, that you are a regional pilot as opposed to a senior legacy captain - all they know is that you are a pilot, and expect the same from all pilots.

BUT - passengers who act that way suck - and most of us in the back ridicule and mock these tools who throw fits on airplanes and verbally abuse flight crew.
