Yes, after they cancelled 25 Saab upgrades they are only offering jet captain upgrades, which goes to the 8-yr people. I've been about 100 numbers from SAAB captain for 8 months. My seniority has gone up but with no new-hires to cover upgrades, there is no relief in sight.

Sorry the last time I cited my sources on this board, I almost got fired, and the moderators would not "delete" my post, so I have to be careful with that from now on..........lesson learned.........so therefor my source won't be posted....however read "Evilatp's" reply, he's seeing it first hand!

A very good analysis. I wonder how AE will pull it all off- if they can get the upgrade time down to a couple of years I imagine they will have an onslaught of Mesa FO lateral moves applying. I keep getting emails to go to their job fairs, like 1/2 of the seniority list at Mesa I just can't justify the pay cut from CA back to FO even if only for 2 years...

The American Eagle Pilot Association is a lunatic fringe group whose stated purpose is to "Remove ALPA as the collective bargaining representative for the American Eagle pilots."
Their "analysis" is at best skewed, and honestly it seems to be the work of a delusional paranoid.
"Knowing that Bain, management and ALPA want to rid American Eagle of senior pilots..."
WTF? !
Bain & Assoc. were contracted by AMR to examine Eagle's entire operation, to determine how AE could remain competative with their "peer" airlines. (It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that if RAH has a 2 year upgrade, they have an advantage over Eagle.) They got paid the same no matter what results they found.
ALPA has a vested interest in keeping the most senior pilots on the rolls at Eagle - dues are a function of payroll.
Neither has any motive to "rid American Eagle of senior pilots".
To suggest that Bain, AMR, & ALPA are involved in a conspiracy to damage AE's senior pilots is not the work of a rational mind.
You should put your tin-foil hat back on and keep watch for the Commies sneaking over the border to put flouride in your water, which will make you gay & afraid of guns.

It is not such a mystery why they can't hire pilots. It is only this country that they pay F/Os such a crappy pay. The rest of the world has 7-8 years upgrade as a norm. If the regional airlines start treating pilots better, they will stay. Pilots won't stay because upgrade and moving on to bigger and better equipment sooner means out of poverty and better QOL. It is only this country that pilots are still in poverty. And it is only this country that there are so much movement of pilots from regional to major airliens.
AE's senior pilots stays there because AE made an environment for them to stay. If they make an environment for F/Os as well, I am sure there are a lot of pilots who will stay. By this, I am talking about well decent money that airline pilots deserve like a real major airline pilots. If this environment is made I am sure training cycle for new pilots will be reduced and airline will pocket that money to spare for equipment upgrade and other things. They need to learn the example from outside of this country's regional airlines. I am sure the operating environment are different from this country, but I think they can find a lot of similarity and good things to adopt to their operations practice as well. Someone needs to change the trend of regional airline industry here. That could be AE.
