I think it's funny that they are issuing PDA's to the Captains on the 70/90. The majority of the CAs can't even complete a load manifest. The FOs never lost their Wiz Wheels, so why not issue the PDAs to them? Ahhhh. That's right...... You are not trusted........ Remember, you aren't the CEO's of the Cockpit as Salvagiblow use to put it.

With few airlines starting to hire like Jetblue, Delta and Airtran to name some, what are everyone's thoughts on the number of Comair guys that might be leaving for new gigs this year? Probably not a lot, but I would say the potential for 20 to 40 guys leave by years end if they get a shot somewhere else.

My guess: just about everyone in the 5-15 year seniority range and no more than 50 y.o. will apply for those jobs. These are the guys mostly affected by all the reshuffling of jobs and bases Comair (per Delta) has done, and will continue to do. Again just a guess, but if hired you may see more than 20-40 guys leave.

DL is 305, just this year, and plans to continue into next year.
It won't surprise me if they hire more than the 240 they're advertising. Europe markets are slowly emerging (with the exception of Greece at the moment, and maybe a couple of other countries in the brink), and the CAL/UAL merger puts a damper on DL/NW hold on Asia and pretty much anything west of California. So my thinking is DL/NW my grow a bit more than portrayed (specially to compete in Asia). 240 will barely cover attrition.
Also I think other companies will "hire" for different reasons. One article I found interesting in the May issue of ATW had a paragraph stipulating how AA has a much larger amount of crew members over 60 than under 40. Talk about attrition when those folks have to retire. Airtran has begun to interview, and I think JetBlue is coming to that point also. Movement is coming.......again, just my opinions.
Anyhow Makers, are you from the west coast (CO, CA maybe), and if so, were you in a crashpad owned by RM from JetBlue?.
