I heard an interesting stat the other day

Captain I was flying with said that regionals fly about 60-65% of all DL's domestic flying.

Curious as to why the main line guys would let that happen? I know the big focus is on international but someone has to get people to the ATL, JFK, CVG, LAX, ect.....

For some reason I thought scope was more than the number of seats an aircraft has....

Can anyone confirm if this number is close to accurate?

How horribly depleted our company has become. The SOCC only has one desk. Sad, very sad. So did you take turns cleaning desk?

:p

I dug this up from the "United RFP???" thread

"The RFP was received on May 9th and the bid is due on May 21st .
It is a short-term RFP for 10 Q400s, 10 Dash-8s, 20 50-seat jets, and 20 70-seat jets.
Bids can be for any combination of those aircraft."

I don't know if that's the one, but that was the last i heard of it.

(Coincidentally almost identical to Mesa's fleet flown for United.....)

Crap....so what's the truth? Is the United deal dead in the water, or are they actually still working on it?

Comair wanted to hire 300 pilots: we only hired 110 I think. So does the 300 number include those who didn't get hired or are in the pool?
Just a thought...

So out of 300 furloughs 190 were never hired so Comair only needs to furlough 110 pilots?

Not true: I know I'm arguing symantecs here but I thought the memo said we would be reducing up to 300 pilots. If you have a slot that is no longer needed, that is a reduction in and of itself. When I worked in a different life, we also went through a "downsizing". But alot of people had already left and therefore, those vacancies that were never refilled were counted as part of the reduction.
Just a thought.....maybe a little glimmer of light.....maybe

So since 104 pilots quit since January, and Comair really only needs to furlough 110, then Comair really really only needs to furlough 6 pilots.

Edit: Sarcasm intended. Wishful thinking missing entirely.

There's that wishful thinking again. I would imagine that none of the guys in the pool are factored into these numbers. I would say if you have started class, then you are included in the 300 number..
