Dang! Sounds like I might just be able to afford that... of course I'd have to save up for a couple of days.

And JF'nK... That's pretty funny. If I get on there I'll for sure use it.

Edit: oh it's a real cafe? Cool.

I know you can attach pictures but I think it all depends on the size of the file.

It's not a picture. It's a powerpoint presentation. Oh well. If you guys want to see (hear) some hilarity, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you. It's quite humorous. Or maybe somebody can figure out some other way for me to post (I don't think myspace or facebook allows it, do they?).

I'm partial to the turkey combo at chilis...full salad, 1/2 turkey melt thing and fries for like 6 bucks.

SuperPilotJesse 03-25-2008 12:38 PM

So class is about six weeks in CVG from what I heard... What's the schedule(M-F?, Times?) Where do you stay?

ReadyToQuit 03-25-2008 12:53 PM

When I started last year it took me 2 months from the day I started to my checkride. I'm not sure how much has changed since then. Ground school had classes that started in the morning and afternoon. I started in the morning and went from like 8am to 4 in the afternoon. Some who went through recent could tell you where you stay. They used to keep people at the holiday inn and radisson but then got apartments so....

There is a lot to study in ground school but you can have a lot of fun if you have a good class.

Take the apartments and bring your car, you wont regret it. Typically the schedule is 8-3ish, but they can go till 5. Study your tail off, keep a humble, good attitude and you'll be fine. See ya around, welcome to the circus.

mperrizo 03-25-2008 01:51 PM

The Apartment option has been removed for now. The last four classes have been placed at the Holiday Inn on Mineola. Average class right now is 5 new hires and they are running two classes a month. The Launch program has been removed and may be reworked but the new hires I have been speaking too like the new process so far.
Good Luck

Speedbird172 03-25-2008 02:09 PM

No more launch? Interesting. Although I guess most places don't have anything like that really. It was kinda fun being the beginning of training but at the same time it would've been nice to be done sooner without it, made training just that much longer.

andy171773 03-25-2008 02:58 PM

I thought launch was a really good idea..helpful to see the automation/glass before you really talk about it.

Congrats boyJesse! Welcome to hell..Took me 2 months and 1 week to the day to finish training. Let us know if you need anything.

You taking CVG or JFK?

Pilotguy143 03-25-2008 04:23 PM

I was back when launch was a 4 day thing. It was a blast and a good way to get comfortable with a scan and FCP operation before the checkride. Have fun!!!

CRJDriver 03-25-2008 05:18 PM

Please let this be Comair, but I'm not giving my hopes up...:(

Look's like we are loosing some flying out of BOS...

MSY, SDF, GSO, CHS and SAV will be gone.

http://www.boston.com/business/artic...ng_fuel_costs/

Too bad...

"Some decisions came suddenly: The Saturday-only flight to New Orleans, which Comair flies under the Delta Connection banner, is a successful spring break route that the airline last month decided to run through Sept. 6, rather than end service on April 26 as originally planned, but that decision was reversed."

I didn't even know they were still making the 700s. I thought they were concentrating on the 900s and 1000s. That's awesome that they're still pumping them out.

andy171773 03-25-2008 05:34 PM

Good news (getting evv, avl etc back) immediately followed by bad news.

seems to be the way things go around here lately.

Paok 03-25-2008 06:32 PM

But Delta passengers will still have options.
"Customers can still choose to fly some of the markets that may have been canceled through any of our hubs, through Cincinnati, through Atlanta," Elliott said.

NOT! Rather drive!

Uh, after One day in CVG my mind was made up.

JFK.

Nothing against people who live there, I just don't think it is for me.

andy171773 03-26-2008 01:00 AM

There are too many miserable people in CVG. JFK is where it's at.

Launch was really part of the interview.....even though you thought you were hired at this point.

You got 4 sim session to show the instructors that you were practicing your flows, had basic instrument scan, where willing to learn and help your sim partner, and most of all......where someone that could be tolerated for a 4-5 day trip.

If you showed up 15 minutes early, properly dressed, with a good attitude you where 80% of the way there and on to Indoc and ground.

Have just a smidgen of attitude and you were history. This all happened after the HR but before they invested too much $$$ in you. I don't know if they still do it or not but it sure helped with ground if you weren't used to the display panels.

Differences training

Do we have any on-line work to do before we attend training?

ReadyToQuit 03-26-2008 03:24 AM

I have never understood why CHQ guys have to bash on Comair so much. I guess if you can upgrade in a year you can act however you want.:D What I really love are all the ones who say that Mesa stole their MCO base.

If you are referring to recurrent ground training, then yes. You have to go to epic and complete the online training before you can go to class. It should be available to you about 4 weeks before your class date. Have fun>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Same reason some Comair guys bash CHQ guys. I have heard people say really vicious things and all it demonstrates is childish ignorance. Even though Comair has had its problems, I still would rather be here than anywhere else, but I don't feel the need to justify why.

When guys compare airlines they might as well have a phallus measuring contest. In the end we all operate small "jets".
