I have the 530am Bangor departure on Saturday....what's the point of even going to bed?

I just got this from Epic's news section. Looks like Freedom's getting some reduced flights out of MCO.

Delta's cuts include four routes from Orlando --Charleston, S.C.; Columbia, S.C.; Greensboro, N.C.; and Little Rock,Ark. -- that are not currently flown nonstop by any other airline. Italso will end nonstop service from Orlando to Miami, Fort Lauderdaleand Las Vegas.

Elliott said Delta will "substantially" reduce flightsfrom Orlando to other cities as well, including Boston; New Orleans;Richmond, Va.; Raleigh, N.C.; and Knoxville, Tenn.

shoot, meant to get some more KY at the store. This is going to pinch a little. :D

Hey if SBS will take it why not? I wonder if we can do 12 minute turns in DCA with a crew change? SBS says we can! And Customer Service always wonders why we're late. I feel a reduced rest coming on!

Meh... every time I get reduced rest, I always seem to get one of those blasted side effects... I wonder if this time it'll be headache, lack of sleep or the flu.

How long does it usually take to get something approved if you picked something up from the SAW? I'm not sure if my request went through or not, I don't have a box at the bottom with request pending. I just got a page which looked like a printout where they approve or deny? Is that right? Also, I know you can request to drop legs, but can you request just to pick up 1 or 2 legs from a four day in the SAW?

RJtrashPilot 03-20-2008 12:34 PM

If you got that page on EPIC that usually prints out in ops for a trade, then it went through. Whether or not you got it is another story. They usually do two "pulls" every day. One at noon and the other at 5 pm and go through the add/drop/trade requests. All SAW requests are awarded on a first come first serve basis and also have to adhere to contractual and legality rules.

Technically, you can't request partial adds or drops during the SAW, although they have done it in the past. It depends on who the planner is and what mood they are in I guess.

Thanks! Well, If I get the trip, great! If not, I'll have 2 extra days off.:D

I did see that we are taking over a "few" CHQ flights (ER3) in Apirl. Going back into EVV out of CVG. Also taking over a CHA flight. When I first heard that DL is lauching JFK-IAH, it was first shown as a Comair flight when I checked a few weeks ago, but it has now changed to a Freedom flight. We will still be doing JFK-MSP come June. Freedom however is taking over a few more JFK-ORD flights. I'm dissapointed to see more and more Freedom CRJ-900s operating in CVG (CVG-ORD-JFK, CVG-DTW). Hopefully we will get some of the Freedom CRJ-900 flying and as DL continues to get rid of the ERJ-135s for CHQ out of CVG, we will be covering some of those flights in the CRJ-200. We've been doing quite a bit of flying out of ATL on the 70/90 this month, hopefully that will continue, as SkyWest continues to shift their CRJ-900s back to the West Coast.

P.S: Next Net Conference scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.

This is flying we used to do before CHQ moved into CVG. I see this as getting flying back, instead of taking flying over from CHQ. We used to do everything CHQ does now (FWA, AZO, EVV, SDF, TOL, IND, CHA, AVL) on 40/50 seaters.

I put in a request yesterday to switch two days and I still haven't got denied or approved so who knows what is going on.

Did you check the ADT results page on EPIC? They usually update those every day or so during the SAW. It's under crewmember services. If it was denied, it will give a reason (ie - staffing, contract violation, etc..).

If it were approved, it would be on your line by now.

With that said, are we going to keep the focus on Comair or is it time to close this thread?

That would be a real travesty. The end of civilization as we know it.

Yeah I've checked a few times and it's not listed as approved or denied. I figure I'll get the wonderful staffing reason for denied which is a joke. Last month they switched by days in a couple hours. I've tried two different requests this month and nothing has showed up.

Yep... at least keep it open until I get off of reserve. You can always tell when I'm sitting a ready by how many posts I make in a 6 hour time period... :D. If this goes away, I dont know what I would do... maybe call in fatigued or something...

Or just move over to the Comair Forum (http://comaircrews.myfastforum.org/), which is pretty much dead.

Well, I got one of the trips approaved, the other is sill in the SAW, not sure why I didn't get it. It is the same day, but there are no legality/contract issues. How many legs a day are we allowed to fly?

Should be a fun day of flying:D A few short trips in the 50 for the last time. I'll be feeling like a CHQ Pilot! Ha!

Thanks for the reminder, that just ate up about 30 mins of my ready! Only 35 to go!!

RiddleEagle18 03-20-2008 01:26 PM

Anybody else notice all of those 2 day CVG trips with overnights in AVP. Flights to IND AZO CHA and AVP overnight. Those all sound like CHQ trips and they were NOT in the bid packet.

This is why I dont think Delta will ever sell us. When someone else cant cover their flying, they call the reserve airline and get us to do it. When they have too much flying they just pull it from the reserve airline.

Anyways... check out 1011 on the 4th. How many legs are we allowed to do in a day. 6 correct???

Its not that CHQ "can't" cover it, per se. Since DL is parking their 135's, they have no option but to ask us to do it. We have the staffing and the airframes right now to cover it. Max landings per day is 7 contractually. I'm looking for specific sections now.

How many planes of CHQ's is Delta parking, how many of ours did they park

Yeah, I tried to add the CVG-CHA out and back to my other trip I just got approved. I didn't get it. Maybe it didn't go through. I just requested it again. I always thought we were limited to 6 legs a day, but those are some pretty short hops.

I was talking to a CHQ dude a few weeks ago. He wasn't sure how many 37 seaters they are going to park, but he said that there might be a possibility that CVG would close as a base for them, as they mostly fly the ER3 in and out of CVG. Those ER3s are pretty crappy planes anyway, always weight restricted. Wouldn't be surprised if we go back into places such as FWA, TOL, SBN, MSN, etc. in a few months.

RJtrashPilot 03-20-2008 01:42 PM

Found it. Section 12.F.1 talks about scheduled landing limitations. Max is 8 landings per duty period, extendable to 10 landings per duty period.

This DSL is really not that bad. It's a lot of work, but we used to see schedules like these on a daily basis.

I believe that DL is parking all of CHQ's 135s. Not sure exactly how many that is though. For us, I believe we have lost 30, give or take a few, total airframes to date.

CRJDriver 03-20-2008 01:48 PM

Thanks for finding that RJtrashPilot!

Talk to some of the CVG CHQ guys, they do schedules like that every day. If DL does park all of CHQs 135s, I think there is a good chance they will close CVG as a base. Maybe we will finally start parking the all the 70/90 over at Concourse A.

SBN and MSN. Great overnights, as long as it's not in the dead of winter. MSN has a great downtown area and SBN is a great college town with Notre Dame right down the street. Fiddler's Hearth right next to our old hotel in SBN was a great little Irish pub/restaurant with great food, beer and live Irish music.

ReadyToQuit 03-20-2008 01:51 PM

They finally denied my request to switch days because of staffing on a tuesday. So I went and looked at the reserve status 50 FOs are available on the day I want off. Do you think they even look sometimes if they can do the request or just deny them and put staffing?

I think you've been here way too long. You need to upgrade:p

RJtrashPilot 03-20-2008 01:54 PM

I'm working on it. It's kinda tough when we keep losing airframes and block hours. I've got my bid in to upgrade to JFK ASAP. I know I'd be sitting reserve there, but in the end, I feel it would be worth the pay raise and PIC time to commute for it. The most junior captain that just upgraded is only 90 numbers senior to me. It is slowly working its way down!

CRJDriver 03-20-2008 01:57 PM

Ok, so I just checked why they denied my CVG-CHA trip. All it said was "conflict". What the hell is that suppose to mean? How is that different from the trip below, except replace CVG-AZO with EVV.

There are some pretty funny comments in the A/D/T.

-reserves cannot pick up during the saw
-you do not have a trip on the 12th (LOL! The Chow what are you thinking?)
-you are already flying on 27th - are you trying to add this to your current trip????

RJtrashPilot 03-20-2008 01:59 PM

What a small world. It could be because I'm already scheduled to fly that CHA turn.

RJtrashPilot 03-20-2008 02:00 PM

Nevermind. I'm scheduled to fly it on the 3rd. False alarm.

Maybe another stupid question, but at the bottom of my CD it says "GUARANTEE: 73.30" I thought it was suppose to be 75?

You should be able to add the trip, as long as it doesn't violate any contract or legality issues. If you want to add something else, better do it this morning, becuase the SAW will close today!
