haha, so true. What got you your April line? Seniority or the T4?

Well welcome to the 70. It'll be nice to finally get some more beneath me on the seniority list.

PS, I you figure out the TLR, let me know. Most of us are still clueless

CRJDriver 03-17-2008 05:20 PM

The differences training pushed me into a line. I was surprised to see that so many people actually got lines on the 50. I was sure that all the guys that got a line this month will be back on reserve in April. Oh well, I think going to the 70/90 is still a smart move, especially since we got more flying coming. Maybe by the end of summer I'll hold a line on the 70/90.

Sad thing is, even if I would be in JFK, I wouldn't be able to hold a line. Maybe if MCO and GSO would still be open:D

Def not MCO. That was VERY senior base.

700/900 is a good gig. You'll make lots of money. Not just due to the higher pay rate, but more flying. I think last month I credited 104 hours. This month is looking into the mid 90s so far, with 2 more days open

Exactly! Where do you think most of the senior F/Os went when they closed down MCO? JFK! Easier commute. All these senior guys moved into JFK, pushing us down the seniority list in JFK. I think there is very little movement in JFK.

Great, another thing I dont know about. What is the SAW?

anyone here commute from cle or ord to cvg? how is it and which one would be the easier? thanks

Schedule Adjustment Window

Opens 24 hours after the line awards are released and is open for 72 hours. Basically it is a window where you can adjust your schedule. Those awarded a line may request trip drops, adds, and trades on a first come first serve basis in an attempt to better their schedule. Those awarded reserve may request reserve window preference.

cessna157 03-18-2008 03:45 AM

Clarification:
SAW is only for lineholders. Reserves cannot do anything except see open time

As for the ORD/CLE commute question: I'd have to guess that ORD is easier, strictly due to higher flight frequency (United, Skywest, Comair, Freedom, GoJet, A. Eagle)

I commute through ORD all the time (gotta love the 2 leg commute). Extremely easy commute..especially if commuting to LGA is an option for you. Both American and United have hourly flights ORD-LGA.
American has 3 daily flights to JFK.
Jetblue has 5.
Comair..normally 5 depending on the day.
There are also several EWR flights if you're really desperate..

Only time I've ever not been able to get on a flight ORD-NYC was on Comair...I don't even try Comair anymore for the commute.

http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/18/news...ion=2008031810

30,000 job cuts and domestic cuts of 5%

JP Morgan reporting 15-20 mainline aircraft cut and 25 additional RJ's. I wonder were comair falls in all of this.

ComairFO 03-18-2008 07:31 AM

Would anyone be surprised if these 25 RJs came from anyone BUT Comair? Sure would be nice to see Mesa take the fall for once.........

RiddleEagle18 03-18-2008 07:35 AM

The only saving grace I see is the fact that we are already at are contractual limit on airframes.(I know contracts are meant to be broken) Mesa has been unable to staff their flying so why not take it from them since they are canceling everything anyways.

TristarJS30 03-18-2008 07:35 AM

"A spokeswoman says that if more than that amount agree to take the voluntary severance, it will be allowed. The severance program primarily affects mainline Delta employees. It will not affect Delta pilots, who have a union contract with the company, and employees at Delta regional carrier Comair, which is based in Erlanger, Ky."

Taken from the same link posted by RiddleEagle. I'm assuming this quote means the buyouts dont affect Comair, but its a glimmer of hope nonetheless.
Maybe this means Freedom goes bye-bye and thats more than enough for the 25 RJs.

RiddleEagle18 03-18-2008 07:43 AM

We could only hope. In jfk everyday there are 900's just sitting there and canceled flights on all of the boards because mesa can't staff their planes.

"Contracts?! We no need no stinkin contracts!" hahaha!

Yeah sure and #### always flows uphill!

I'm hoping for a Freedom send off wich would take it's 36 50 seaters. Their DCI -900s are more than welcome at Comair!

Paok 03-18-2008 12:14 PM

an above post told somewhere to get a job elsewhere............ thats going to be pretty hard considering a lot of the big ones are stopping new hires classes......... ASA Xjet and Skywest ........... Where else that is hiring is THAT much better than Comair besides RAH................ eagle? mesa? psa?

its not that bad here.......... yes its not what it used to be, but i mean gosh, at least we havent completely halted hiring and our contract is much better than a few mentioned above

The SAW isnt just for lineholders, it is also the window to select your reserve window preferences in order.

TristarJS30 03-18-2008 12:26 PM

Paok- Thank you for your voice of reason.

Anyone else think the open time for JFK FO's in the SAW is absolutely pathetic. Real slim pickings this month. Not like they'll let you drop anything either "for staffing levels."

CRJDriver 03-18-2008 12:26 PM

What's with all these CHA trips next month? They must have added another flight or replaced one of the CHQ flights, like they did with EWR and BUF this month.

There is nothing but ready reserves in CVG in Open Time. There isn't even anything in the 70/90 Open Time. cessna157 must be sad because he won't break 1234934 hrs. of credit this month :D :D

CRJDriver 03-18-2008 12:34 PM

Why are they sending a CVG guy to do this trip? I'm sure they had plenty of F/O's sit around in JFK to do this. Would be a lot cheaper to GT a guy over from JFK, instead of DH a guy from CVG and then overnight him in JFK for 23 hrs? ***?

Johnny's just came out with a memo! Check your e-mail. Don't know if or how many more 50 seaters will be parked. But there will be some more job cuts in addition to those that got axed in January.

On Autopilot 03-18-2008 02:11 PM

Bummer!! Looks like we all better fall on plan B. Dust off those resumes' everyone!!

cyrcadian 03-18-2008 02:20 PM

I can list a few people that deserve the ax.

I think it is time for Freedom to take this one. I feel for the pilots, but that airline needs to go away.

Step away from the ledge...put the gun down...breathe...the memo said nothing really new.

As for people wishing Mesa/Freedom to get the ax...be careful karma can be a *****.

I already had my Karma, I was a MAG employee!;) I bear no ill will toward the guys on the line at Freedom. It was like being in heaven to come back to Comair after being at the Crystal Palace in PHX. After seeing the day to day operations, I never set foot on a Mesa/Freedom operated flight and still don't. Some really scary ####! I'd rather other DCI carriers feel the brunt than to get another cut in aircraft which would possibly lead to getting the boot. I beat the axe in January and I really don't want to be on the block again anytime soon.

Yea, i'm pretty sure it's their karma that's going to be coming to them. How much do respectable airlines have to suffer..i.e. comair..before an airline that's stretched so far (just to screw others) has to give an inch.

Upon further review, i wouldn't be upset if whoever made this explodes. Go away MAG, forever.

SuperPilotJesse 03-18-2008 08:23 PM

Really, I didn't even know there was a rivalry?

ExperimentalAB 03-18-2008 08:37 PM

Apparently some dude ::coughcough:: loser thinks so?? And he's even on the wrong-side of enemy lines too!!

That way he can understand.

Paok 03-19-2008 12:32 AM

guys apparently the guy that made that video works for comair and its a joke he has other videos creeping around CVG.. i dont thnk hes a pilot

Pantera 03-19-2008 05:35 AM

There are some serious gay overtones to that video and I think that he must bat for the other team. Comair has its issues but they are not nearly as bad as MAG. :)

andy171773 03-19-2008 05:47 AM

So when are we gonna hear what DL's plans are for us?

And what about this other carrier flying..did they give a timeline on that stuff of when we would know by?
