And what about this other carrier flying..did they give a timeline on that stuff of when we would know by?

I would imagine Delta would want to move pretty quickly with this adjustment to their business plan, so I would think we would hear how bad they're going to scr$w within a matter of weeks.

Regarding the bid(s) we have out with other carriers, I bet it was a possibility, but with oil now above $100 is probably less likely to happen as those companies map out their own strategies to deal with higher fuel costs. I hope I'm wrong on both accounts!

With that said, are we going to keep the focus on Comair or is it time to close this thread?

So Delta is going to reduce domestic flying by another 5% and the first 5% already has had an impaact, how exactly is this not to impact Comair?

I think Mesaba new hires has more.

But to my point earlier, do you guys (especially H46 Bubba) think we'll lose more 50's?

As of now I haven't heard any rumblings yet regarding aircraft. I have to assume that we'll get an aditional fleet reduction. Delta isn't desperate enough(yet)to start voiding its contracts with other DCI carriers. But they just might suprise me. I know SkyWest is at contract minimums as far as DCI flying. As far as schedule reductions, I know direct service to and from BGR out of CVG are history. JAX, SAV, and CHS is reduced. I'm not sure what other routes are effected.

Skywest may be at minimum...but 1/3rd of CHQs flying for the month of april is DL flying.

Obviously this hasn't been updated on the DL schedule, yet. I just downloaded the new schedule. Still showing one daily flight to BGR with an increase to 2 daily flights starting in June. I did see that we are taking over a "few" CHQ flights (ER3) in Apirl. Going back into EVV out of CVG. Also taking over a CHA flight. When I first heard that DL is lauching JFK-IAH, it was first shown as a Comair flight when I checked a few weeks ago, but it has now changed to a Freedom flight. We will still be doing JFK-MSP come June. Freedom however is taking over a few more JFK-ORD flights. I'm dissapointed to see more and more Freedom CRJ-900s operating in CVG (CVG-ORD-JFK, CVG-DTW). Hopefully we will get some of the Freedom CRJ-900 flying and as DL continues to get rid of the ERJ-135s for CHQ out of CVG, we will be covering some of those flights in the CRJ-200. We've been doing quite a bit of flying out of ATL on the 70/90 this month, hopefully that will continue, as SkyWest continues to shift their CRJ-900s back to the West Coast.

P.S: Next Net Conference scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.

Question for you:

There is a 4 day trip starting on Saturday and I have 5 days on reserve at that point. But the trip starts after my window closes.

So will they move my window or give it to the guy who has 6 days available and the trip starts within his window??

Well, it should be in seniority order, reserve window and then days available. I'm assuming you are taking about the trip on the 22nd. They might give it to a long call guy. ftrpilot can probably answer it a lot better. I haven't seen him post on here in a while. ftrpilot check your PMs! :D

I wonder why the hell I am sitting ready reserve when they keep bypassing me (over 60 hrs.) left and right. They even delayed a flight so they can use another reservist. But they don't mind calling me at the butt crack of dawn to give me a 90 minute callout to come sit ready. They did the same crap to me yesterday ... Thank god I have a line next month. So, when was that JetBlue open house again? :p

April 12 at 10am in Orlando. I was going to stop by for grins and giggles and then go ride the roller coasters. :D

For all you guys on reserve! Be careful when they schedule your ready reserves. I was just having some discussions with some other pilots. Look's like I've been given (and lots of others) a bunch of illegal assignments last month. If you are on L1 or L2, you cannot do a 3 a.m. ready reserve. Your ready reserve has to fall within your 14 hr. reserve window.

Straight from the contract:

b. A Ready Reserve period will not be scheduled to exceed six (6) hours and will be scheduled
within the fourteen (14) hour reserve period.

d. A pilot on LC1 will be subject to the same rules as a SC reserve pilot except as follows:

(1) An assignment awarded to a LC1 reserve pilot will not have a report requirement
earlier than nine (9) hours from the time the LC1 reserve pilot is notified of the
assignment. This nine (9) hour period will be utilized as a required rest period prior
to a LC1 reserve pilot reporting for duty.
(2) Between the hours of 1400 and 1600 hours the day before a single, or group of,
reserve days, a LC1 reserve pilot will contact the Company, one time, for an
assignment.
(3) If given an assignment in accordance with paragraph (2), above, the LC1 reserve
pilot will be considered on rest until the report time of the assignment.
(4) A LC1 reserve pilot will be available for assignment by the Company in the LC1
reserve window of 0500 and 1500 hours on each day of LC1 except when on
required rest. If the LC1 reserve pilot is on required rest, when the rest period is
complete, the LC1 reserve pilot will be available for any remaining LC1 window on
that day.
(5) After completing the reserve window at 1500 hours a LC1 pilot without an
assignment will be released from responsibility to the Company until the next LC1
window.

So, if you are on L1 (0500-1500) you can't do a 3 a.m. ready reserve! Only A1 could do those! If you are on A2 (0330-1730) and they call you for a 1400 ready reserve, you can legally leave at 1730. So, technically an L2 could never do a ready reserve, unless they pre-notify you and you sit ready for 2 hrs. ALPA has already been notified about this issue.

ReadyToQuit 03-20-2008 07:36 AM

Did we just get Asheville back? There is an Asheville overnight every single day in the SAW. It's a nice airport to go into.

I also feel bad for whoever gets trip 1007 on the 9th. 5 legs and 4:15 credit.

So all they have to do is change your window right? And on LCI or LCII all you need is 9 hours notice and you can go whenever they want you to. Your window isn't 5am-3pm that you can work...its the window they can notify you.

Delta Cuts Affect Maine Airports

(NEWS CENTER) -- Delta Airlines announced Wednesday that it's laying off employees and cutting back on flights. The company cites high fuel prices as the reason. Flights in Maine will be affected.

Rebecca Hupp, director of Bangor International Airport, confirms that ComAir, which operates Delta, Northwest and Continental flights, is eliminating its Bangor to Cincinnati flight.

Hupp says in its place ComAir will fly from Bangor to Boston. The company says it will increase flights as well as available seats.

At the Portland Jetport, Director Jeff Schultes says he has not heard of any flight changes, but that doesn't mean there won't be any. He says "even large airports are losing flights as we go into these hard times."

Schultes says shorter flights may be less likely to be cut because they cost less to operate. He says each summer the Jetport gets a flight from Minneapolis, but there is also one from Detroit. Wednesday Schultes wondered whether the Jetport would still be getting that Minneapolis flight.

I'm not going to miss doing that 5:30am flight out of BGR with the 4:30 van to the airport. Anyone know when this route ends? I have a couple BGRs on my line for next month..one of which I think is that ass crack of dawn CVG flight.

dbo861 03-20-2008 08:32 AM

One more quick question..is it possible to bid for a specific reserve window when you have one DA on your line?

I ask because this month I had a DA and they gave me mother effing A1 window and ended up having to sit ready at 6am. I have a DA next month too..and I don't want a crappy window again.

Ya, basically, all they have to do is notify you of a window change and then assign you the ready. It all comes down to how it's worded in the contract, but the way they have been assigning ready reserves to long call reservists have been illegal in the past.
