Hey, since were talking....
Hey, since were talking about ancillary "things" if you will, my question is once you've finished IOE, is there some kind of ceremony (formal or informal) where you are presented with your FO "wings" or your epaulets? Or do they hand them to you after finishing the last segment of training?

Go to Marshall's and get a 22" samsonite bag. I picked one up for $49.00. I've yet to have an issue with it and it's 8 months old. Still looks in great condition. I also commute so it gets used more than average and has a few extra days worth of clothes in it. In general I can barely close the thing when I have a long trip and it's still held up like a champ. Why spend so much money on something when you don't make much to start with? Find a quality piece that's on sale and use it until your company gives you an allowance. We get $200 per year that you can use at RAH. So for a total of $100 I picked up a bag and flight case that both look good and are quality built vs some that spend $700. You don't make much as a first year FO don't go blowing what money you have on something that can wait.

The luggage works bag and its guarantee is excellent. Don't overstuff the standard size bag and you'll be happy. Overstuff it and you'll end up with a lot more fabric abrasion.
Stealth II - Standard
Enjoy!! Great bag. Great guarantee and reasonable repair rates should you damage yours. They have replacement bags they can send you to use while they repair yours.
I got my first one in 1996. It was run over by a PHL US Airways belt loader in 2000. I got my second bag, courtesy of US Airways, in 2000. I had the handle come out of it in 2004. I ordered a new PNT Stealth II and sent the bag from 2000 in for repair. I now use my 2004 Stealth all the time and keep my 2000 bag as a standby should I need it. My wife uses it as well.
That is only two bags in ten years. (Not counting the one that was killed in the field.) I have yet to see anyone else produce a bag that can take that level of abuse.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
