Skywest Base information

If it's not where you want to be then you're being forced against your will. The only difference is that it's the accepted norm in this industry, JR pilots are forced to do things until they gain enough seniority to have a choice which essentially allows them to regain their “will.” LOL! But, new hires and JR Initial Upgrades don’t have much of a choice seeing they are JR.

Correct, we had 48 daily departures and now we have 38. For no other reason than the September downtown, flying is down company wide as it is everywhere else. It’s just financial irresponsible to continue with 5 flights a day to a destination when you’re “AVERAGING” less than half full therefore DAL, UAL & Midwest cut back on their service. Even with the reduced flying the industry is averaging less than 73% full where as previously, with increased flying, they were over 88%.
When the holiday season roles around we'll have more flying with a few new destinations.

How much MX do we have in the ATL? Does ASA do any of our MX? Unelss we have decent MX for RON airplanes, I can't see the ATL growing to much. Also, we would have to get more 900's to fly. ASA has plenty of 200's in ATL.

Yes; they are employed by SKW and not ASA, when needed for major repairs, we do use ASA facilities.
BTW, 14 of our 17 CR9’s are ATL based with only 3 SLC. They flow them in and out but everyday we have at least 12 working here with 1 sitting reserve.

We have better Mx in ATL than any of the bases I'm been domiciled in. As a matter of fact the only other base that compares (in my opinion) is PDX where they meet you at the airplane to check everything out even if you didn't call. I mainly fly Stand Ups and every morning Mx is waiting for us, we talk and then they do a complete inspection. They are always quick and every through, they have great attitudes and work very hard. They’re lounge is next to ours and I’ve spent hours over there hanging out and playing PlayStation (Boxing, Baseball and LOTS of Football).

I've flown more than 3 different -900 out of SLC.
JetJoke seems to make it up as he goes along. He made the same BS statistics for how many ASA -200's we have at SkyWest (he was wrong, by the way), like he had his nose jammed up Jerry's posterior.
I'd give JetJoke's comments the credibility they deserve.

Currently we are the only 900's in ATL but Pinnacle will be joining us soon as well as freedom (I think?). Shuttle America operated the EMB-170’s, some call them "Jungle Buses" (personal favorite) but whatever you do don’t call them ERJ’s. Even though they’re Embraer Regional Jets they should be called EMB’s seeing they’re a different series, Shuttle guys get pi$$ed because they think their flying “Mainline” jets. LOL! Every pilot I’ve come across here in ATL has been great, including ASA guys but SA plots are a little………..just my observation. I'm sure it's all about the few bad apples in the bunch
I welcome Pinnacle to the mix; currently SKW, ASA, Shuttle America, Comair and Freedom operate here for DAL with Pinnacle coming in. Although it's sad to see the RJ’s out numbering the Big Boys here at the world busies airport.
Flew in from HOU this morning and Mx met us at the gate “AGAIN.” I asked them how they liked SKW. Both of them were former ASA Mx; they said they loved it here, better pay, better Mgmnt, better atmosphere, etc. They're a bunch of good guys doing a hell of a job out here for us.

We have 17 and they flow between the two cities regularly with the majority being in ALT, regardless of where they are based on paper. After all, do we really think we have any RJ's based in PSP, FAT, SMF, SBA, TUS or any of the other out stations? No, they are based in SLC, DEN, LAX, SFO and ORD; those are just locations were it makes sense to have a pilot & Mx domicile due to RON's. Do you really think that the CR2's & 7's bases in ORD never make it to DEN, LAX or SFO?
You’re a bright guy, think about it. What's on paper doesn't mean jack after we sign the contract with "Mainline." That is, as long as we fulfill our end they don't care which domiciles a/c we use or if it's a CR7 or CR2 (scope removed). They just want it to launch with their PAX on board.
