I just got off Reserve in MEM as an FO, for 3 and 1/2 months. If nothing changes then you will definitely need a crashpad. In September I only flew 18 hours, 35 hours in August...so you can make your own assumption. I'm sure it'll pick up with the holidays and such, but they barely used me on reserve. I didn't care b/c I live in MEM so I just hung out with my wife and kid all the time. But, as a commuter, that's a lot of hours to hang out in ops!

remember guys like someone said on our message board.. reserve guys are there to pick up the slack for irop, sick calls, etc, etc. if reserve guys are flying 90 hours a month then they are not reserve pilots, they are line holders, which is a good indication that the airline isn't staffing properly. i really believe that. when i was on reserve there was one point were they flew me to death, everyone was getting jm, and extended.. all indications of on improperly staffed airline..

The usual crash pad goes for about 150 to 300 per month. I'm guessing a hotel these days is around 50-80 bucks a day. So if you are gonna be in MEM for more than 4 nights a month you'll need a crash pad. These figures are a SWAG but it's what I used years ago on determining if I needed a crash pad or not.

If you bid a normal line and cannot hold it, will you automatically get a cdo line instead of reserve, or do you have to bid for the cdo line. Can you do both, so if you can hold a normal line you can get that and then a cdo line if not?

you will get a reserve line if you cant hold a regular line,, then while on reserve they can assign you high speeds.. its almost like you cant get away from them until you hold a line.. but not to worry, lots of people like high speeds.. for example in mem we had 1 high speed line, an i personally know of 3 capts, and 5 fo's that wanted them

What are the current minimums for Pinnacle? I'm just about to graudate with 350/60 and I wanted to know if they would even consider looking at me. Also, I live right by DTW, Would it be hard to bid for DTW as a new hire so I don't have to commute? Thanks!

Published minimums are back to 1000/100. It seems that most people below that are being told to do a bridge program (JetUniversity, RAA, FSI, CAE) which is odd because a lot of postings on the message boards say PCL is woefully understaffed with a lot of JM going on.

The last award just came out and it seems like MSP is getting reduce a lot. I'm guessing it has to do with the 15 airplane that's going to XJ. They incease DTW by a little bit so you have no problem holding DTW. I just got my upgrade award and I guess i'm going to DTW. I was hoping it would be MSP but it got reduce by 8 for CA and 12 for FO.

Reserves are not being used much and the company is still hiring yet holding firm on close to 1000/200 unless you have a bridge program- and the bridge folks are drying up as I have been hearing (had a discussion with HR trying to get a friend on). It seems they are needing people with times close to upgrade opposed to someone who will be an FO for years.

I had a friend walk in a resume at Pinnacle. I got an email asking if I had UND's CRJ course. I had finished before they started the program, so they told me to get more time and I already have 1750 TT...don't know whats going on there?
