This was pinnacle trying to put themselves in a better position to get the flying but it had not been awarded to them. It is out for bid to SkyWest and Pinnacle however. It should be interesting. Either could do this flying or the bids could come back to Southwest and they decide not to farm the flying out to either. They are testing the regional waters however.

I've heard everything from Southwest to AirTran to Continental to USAirways for the "4th airline partner".... with absolutely no basis but opinion. So I guess my guess is as good as anyone elses.

As far as the Midwest side of things, I have heard a pretty strong rumor for 8 more planes sometime next spring/summer.

Spending 100 million dollars for 6 gates to try and get flying they didn't have?? our management may not be union smart or people friendly, but i don't think they are crazy. actually our management is very business savvy. they have managed to secure 2 10 year agreements with delta and northwest. they also have agreements with continental, united, and usairways on the colgan side with future expansion planned. the thing at love field would have been all us, because i know nwa wouldn't have a hand in us flying into love field. i personally think the entire idea that southwest would have a regional is a little far fetched. wilder things have happened i guess. skywest is definantly in a better position to win the flying if there really is a pinnacle/skywest bid out there. we just don't have the people and southwest more than likely knows it. what will matter is if they care that we are short staffed. obviously delta and nwa dont mind.

You may be right, personally If not SkyWest Pinnacle is one of the pilot groups who I like to see get flying. All the Pinnacle guys I have come across have been nothing but great to deal with and talk to. I do have a pretty good idea however that Southwest is looking at these 2 carriers to do flying. what kind of flying would they do, and with what kind of plane? i remember when the dallas love field thing came to light last year after the lawsuit was filed, and management tried to play it down like it was nothing... they pretty much didn't want us to not know anything about it.

thanks for your support. we start our strike vote tomorrow. like i said on another thread we will either get a fair and reasonable contract, or you guys wont have any competition for the SWA flying. :cool:

From what I "heard" errrr been told is that they are looking for someone to fly all 900's for them.

jeez, where do you guys get this stuff? that's 2 of you that keep saying that on these boards. if it was that simple, the stock market would be a much different place. believe me, there are no analysts out there that base a recommendation SOLELY on what a company is doing vis a vis buying back its own stock. and i absolutely guarantee you that market makers DO NOT change their price based SOLELY on the same thing. guaranteed. if you don't know what a market maker is, then look it up. i'd suggest anyone that doesn't have a series 7 at the very least, and better yet, a series 55, stop making these ridiculous pronouncements about what makes "stocks go up". good lord.

The aircraft and the number I have heard (from a high source) is both amazing and unbelievable. However, call me crazy but I believe it. He told me about the DEN bro base closing 2 weeks before the rumors even started. I didn't want to believe him then.
