I can’t tell you how many guys I talked with who really believe that when they get 1000 pic turbine, they would/will be snatched up at FedEx just like they were at skywest. Then I talk to guy's (plural) who have been sponsored by a fedex pilot, done the meet and greet have 4000+ pic turbine and have yet to get an interview.

Those aforementioned pilots want nothing to do with making skyw or our industry a better place, only to get their pic time any way possible and step on as many backs as it takes.

Then you have guys whose wives make good money or are trust fund babies who have no intention to improve our industry, they just worry about themselves period.

100% true!!! When I went from the 120 to the RJ at SKW there were 9 or 10 CA's doing the same thing. I asked some of them how much PIC time they had, most were over there 1000. They all said the same thing, "I can't get a interview anywhere". All having the 1000 PIC does for you is put you in the same pool as 4000 other RJ CA's out there. I'm not saying wait to upgrade, however, lets make all of our airlines better at the same time. I see lots of me, me, me at SKW. Hell, I'm sure I'm guilty of doing it once in a while.

i dont think you understand. I walked the dog of the chief pilots brother in laws mother and she said i was as good as hired at ::insert major:: as soon as i get more time. ::SARCASM:: it sad but you try enlightening some of these kids on these forums and they are far from receptive. I think they have this dream in their head that it will all work out for them. Maybe not for everyone else but they will get hired and they wont have to worry about it. These people have only known a regional market where companies were falling over themselves to get applicants. They don't understand but i have a feeling they will be very surprised when there phone isn't ringing. its one sad joke

I don't know anything about it but Southwest's current advertisements bashes heavily on regionals. Never really thought about asking anyone there before but do the pilots have scope clause? Also why in the world would they push for 190s from a regional when they can operate 737s cheaper on their own? I was just looking at what it costs Southwest, and other airlines, to operate per pax they were almost half of the legacy guys. Don't see how that same pay would work in a 190.

There are way more people going to get the 1000 PIC time at Great Lakes, Mesa, Trans States, etc. That is how they justify going to work for a sht company. I don't think there too many captains at SkyWest that act like that, they seem to realize it isn't that easy. Now as far as the FO's are concerned, I don't know because I obviously don't fly with them. I agree that it is frustrating for people to think they can just walk into a regional, get a quick upgrade and Southwest will be knocking down their door. For people who think that way, I hope they get stuck at the shtty regionals they work for.

I don't know the ORIGINAL source of this rumor, but logic says no way. However, if you check out Bombardier's website you will see the future of the RJ. They call it the Cseries and it is due out in 2013. Jerry already has em' on order.

i was blown away today to actually get confirmation (of sorts) on this rumor today from someone very very high up in the company. not the top, but he doesn't have to look too far to see the top from where he is. let's say he isn't getting information from people, he is part of the decision making team that creates such information. anyway, he wouldn't tell me any specifics, but did in fact say that it really does have something to do with southwest airlines. that's all i could get him to say. i was floored just hearing that much.

If anything comes to fruition from this rumor it will be skyw doing some sort of code share with swa doing their own at-risk flying. I think it would be quite a few years down the road before anything happens. K-man you got any links on uncle J's options for the c-series? All I could find was nwa was looking at them and the whole c-series program has been put on hold.

Koolaidman 11-18-2007 05:26 PM

It was a joke. Although, I am sure some regional will be flying these in 2013. Perhaps... gojet???

Jealousy is a bad thing, I feel sorry for your wife or girlfriend. Jealousy is a huge sign of insecurity and having a small CO*K. You should enjoy it when other people are happy, if you were happy, I would be happy for you, I'm sorry you hate that I am happy:)
