24G- Listen, you've also gotta be able to roll with the punches. I mean, no we can't see you, and we don't know who you are, and believe me, I don't want to know, however contributing to this site requires some social skills. If you feel your questions are being answered unfairly, then ask them in a different way. A little research and knowledge on topic go a long way also.

Once again an idiot. The level of a question is based on the level of experience. Someone who has no experience in the field is going to have very basic question. None of which earn ridicule, sarcasm, or negative answers.

N62746 just keep on asking. It never hurts and you will get the answers you are seeking. Sometimes you get the answer right away and people spend the rest of the time joking about things. As in your Chief Pilot question. It was answered fully by like the 3rd or 4th post. After you get your answer people are just sometimes having fun posting sarcasm etc. Don't let some low 20's, 2nd regional, "I'm a pilot" kinda guy talk you down. Some people have such an ego and think they are so awesome for working at a regional that it's almost sickening lol. It won't be very hard for you to be better than that. If you ask several of us will answer to our best of ability and try not to get caught in the flak of our disagreements lol. Either way stay here and keep going at it. Don't let people run you off. I've met several great people that I keep in touch with regularly on here. Heck I've even met some that have walked in resumes that I've received job offers from! You never know who you'll meet where. Stay and network. You want to know the real way to get around? Hours are good but friends are great!

Here is some advice.

APF is not a place to seek advice. If you're an aspiring airline pilot- go to http://www.jetcareers.com. AirlinePilotForums.com is where professional pilots come to hear rumors, argue, ***** and moan.

Aspiring airline pilot have no place here- it's too realistic.

Its the perfect place for them to be IMO...get the "big picture" on the realities of line flying.

The only thing is wannabees need to take everything read here with a grain of salt...its never as bad as loudest whiners make stuff out to be.

Sarcasm, humor, and telling infantile jokes is all part of the job. keeps you sane when you have just worked a 16 hour day, filled with groundstops with a flight attendant who is unfit to be a waitress at a waffle house, and making little to no money. Once you get to the regionals you will understand. Until then just laugh it off.... if these forums and other pilot forums dont make you laugh then maybe this career isnt for you. Dont take anything anyone says personal.

in your chief pilot thread (only one i cared to read) you did get answered rather honestly, fairly quickly. you might not have liked or agreed with what they said but when the answer is overwhelmingly telling you something other then what you believe it is hard to swallow. you can say that they arent motivated or that they arent "leader" material but to be honest i think you will come to a better understanding of what a chief pilot is once you work for an airline. Dont like it dont read it! Just keep believing whatever you want to believe.

Like you, I am not an airline pilot and harbor no hope of ever being one, but for reasons I will never be able to explain, I enjoy the occasional idiotic and sarcastic comment. Adds spice to an otherwise dull life!

However, knowing that I do not belong to the target audience of this site, I am respectful of the type of questions and responses I make. At least I try to be mindful. Doesn't always work, but it's the thought that counts. When I do choose to dip my toe in the water, I make sure I have protective gear on. Meaning, I will have a thicker skin and not get too personal. This is an anonymous forum, for crying out loud.

People, for the most part, are nice and eager to help. This free forum is what you make of it. I hope you continue to ask intelligent questions because there are all sorts out here.

A final plea: everyone please do a spell check or something before you post. The best way is to compose your response on Word, for example, then copy and paste it here. It really is that simple.

Or just download and use Firefox, it spellchecks everything typed within the browser.

You gotta roll with it man. You're going to hear this crap all the time, in and outta the cockpit. If I had a penny for the number of smart-assed sarcastic remarks I've heard and made, I'd own this industry and you could be my chief pilot all you want. If you're feelings are really hurt, you should try therapy.

If I created my own thread and whined everytime some DistressJet FO made a "Taco" or "Kitty" comment about my company...I'd get laughed right off the board. Suck it up man.

I dont' think theres on up there. But maybe there's a passpot, FMS/GPS users manual, instructions on how to interpret a clearance, and a brief dissertation about how to fly a stable approach.
