Default AE Ab Initio

Hey everybody, does American Eagle currently have an Ab Initio training program in place? I heard a rumor that they are looking in to starting one at a particular flight academy. Just curious if anyone in the know has heard about this.

I had heard in this same conversation that they already had a somewhat ab initio program, this must be the one they were talking about.

What all did you hear from them? This really piqued my curiosity when I heard it.

Just rumors really, about starting a program where they get students to pay from pvt to CFII MEI, teach for a while then go RJ school. Everything from the begining has Eagle call outs, etc. Similar to RAA. Also Capt I flew said he is looking, for the company, into taking people with a wet commercial, offer them a good deal for the multi, then once they complete that off to RJ school. Those are two things I have heard personally. One thing I have learned with my short time at this company is that they are very slow to change. I wouldn't expect it soon but, its difficult to tell what they will do next.

There are rumors on JetCareers that Eagle will take people with low hours and a CIME and pay to put them through a jet transition course at Flight Safety. Not true ab initio, and so far not confirmed anywhere.

I'm currently in the ASA program at Flight Safety Academy, and American Eagle is now picking up the tab on the entire direct track course (Mini AB Initio Course) as long as you pass. The first two guys finished on Last Thursday. The classes are filling up like crazy for the course which is pretty short. 2 Seminole Flights, 1 week ERJ 145 System training, 4 days CPT Training, and 6 ERJ Sim Rides including a check ride with Eagle. I know two guys washed out of the first class. I think Flight Safety students hiring minimums for Eagle is 250/50 now. If you have any questions Call Flight Safety Academy and Ask for Jenny in Marketing. Good Luck

Sounds to me like they've redefined the phrase "ab initio"... 'cuz that certainly is what it ain't.

It's simply an RJ course preceded by a short standardization to make sure you are worth the effort.

As I said at JC. This will do nothing to boost the experience levels of your average new hire F/O entering the career. I can hardly argue with it, though, if the airline is paying for it.

More power to ya's......
