Ask around on the internet. Even if you got a copy of everyone's contract, they are so complicated that you would probably not be able to just read it and understand it...you'd need someone to explain it to you (unless you're an ex labor-lawyer).

Good point. Thanx. I was able to find hourly pay rates, gauranteed hours, and per diem on the airline pilot central links and the links on the aviation interviews site, but I guess I will need to ask about things like duty rigs and whatever additional contract items there may be that affect the paycheck.

Yeah. It might take a labor lawyer to understand a contract and, if it is Mesa, it sounds like it might then take several more to get it enforced!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have reached my dream of becoming an airline pilot!!! I have been hired by Mesa!!! How awesome is that??? I can't wait to start, especially now that I have found out that they have canceled all vacations for pilots on the ERJ and CRJ for the rest of the year!!!

(I have not been hired at Mesa...just trying to lighten things up a little)

Seriously though, I read on Mesa's airline profile page on APC that Mesa had canceled all vacations for pilots on the ERJ and CRJ. Is management allowed to do that? Is that allowed in the contract? I think it's about time that Mesa pilots follow in the footsteps of Pinnacle pilots and send a message to management. From what I've read on here, it sounds like it's long overdue. How can the pilots there continue to put up with this crap?

isn't alpa so great that something like this couldn't happen

True, that is the problem with the 'union'. One voice? Hardly.

Screw em', I have spoken with people who left there who are still waiting for their last paycheck. Why would even rampers, gate agents, etc. want to work for them? What a joke. I get disgusted every time I look at one of their pilots just thinking about what they have to go through and why they stay there. And yes, most Mesa guys I have come across have been nice. Although we had some guy jumpseat and not say hi or thanks. I guess since he was on United Express and can non-rev he chose to go that route. I only do that with gojet. Maybe he thought he was mainline? Those guys never say hi.

I'm certainly no fan of mesa, but you want to be careful with that training contract. Even though it is probably only marginally enforceable, if you don't spend the money on a lawyer to fight it, you could end up with a civil action and a judgement against you. That wouldn't look so good to future employers.

If you can legally get out of the contract, great, but I wouldn't plan on just leaving and ignoring it.

BINGO! Mesa has no intention of honoring any contract with its pilots. Even when a grievance has been won, the company will resist paying on it.

the pilots are either the kind that could only get hired at Mesa, or are just about to get their 1000TPIC and jump ship.

In English please (for those not up on the terminology like me)???

SELCAL is a function of the HF radio that allows ground stations to page the aircraft discreetly. Each aircraft has its own SELCAL code and when a ground station calls, you get a tone or two and the SELCAL annunciator. This features provides for the pilots to turn the volume down so they don't have to constantly monitor the racket on HF.

It appears that Mesa's management wants to use SELCAL to call pilots to, i.e. junior man them.....I assume.

Sounds like it's time to write up the HF!:D

Edit to add; I thought I heard once that some kind of VHF SELCAL exists. Not sure....

Thanks! I appreciate the explanation. That's pretty dirty.
