You will be on reserve a while if you go to LAX or LGA... probably a year at LAX and maybe 5 or 6 months at LGA. ORD is the most junior, you probably wont be on reserve for more than a month there. BOS and DFW are fairly junior too, you should only be on reserve for 2 maybe 3 months or less. I have no idea about San Juan.

Thats somewhat incorrect, You can choose anybase you want. At ORD and BOS you will be off reserve the quickest (2-3 months). Followed by LGA (3-5). You will not be able to hold LAX EMJ for atleast 1-2 yrs. DFW has a much longer reserve (1+ yrs)

I don't want to hijack Fileater55's thread, but I started a related thread two days ago in the New Hire section titled "AE Corporate Culture." I've yet to receive any replys. I'd appreciate some feedback over there if y'all don't mind. :)

Back on topic, a friend of mine at ORD on the ERJ has been on reserve for a year, but still blocking 90+. I'm not sure what the reserve flying is like at the other bases and A/C. But it may have an impact on what base you choose.

Boiler, if he's on reserve in ORD on the EMJ after a year it's because he's bidding it, not because he can't hold it. I was hired last December and all the guys from my class in ORD have been holding hard lines since mid summer. I couldn't hold a Composite Line until Oct and this month is my first Relief Line (DFW).

And if you guys think Eagle being divested will be a good thing before bad, you're smokin' crack!

Yeah, one thing that has not been mentioned is how a sale affect hiring choosing domicle status. One thing that bugs me being BOS based is we will lose rights to fly that shuttle routes under APA's scope. Definitly puts BOS and LGA domicles in trouble. The company admited that they will lose roughly 250 point to point flights out of the NE and RDU. Service will definity be scaled back, whether it amounts to furlough or not who knows.

IMO, the very public announcement of AE being "available" is probably disingenuous. The value of the RJ is slipping and will slip even more with rising fuel prices. Any sale would almost certainly be accompanied by a contract to provide feed for AA, at much lower market rates than AE is currently subsidized by AMR now. AE can start competing with the likes of Mesa, et al. In that case, scope restrictions remain enforceable.

Whatever happens, you can bet it's not going to be good for any of the employees.

Yeah. And there is more potential room for good things than bad things from a sale, but you probably already know that...

Once we are out of the scope with American we can fly for other carriers and purchase larger aircraft, and leave plenty of room to begin growth. A sale doesnt mean the company is going to go belly up and dump 3000 pilots on the street. nice try though.

Nothing but doom and gloom sometimes around here.

Eagle is still offering its choice of domicile.

With my class ( 30 of us) here is the breakdown:
3 ATR (2 MIA/1 SJU)
8 SAAB (mix of LAX/DFW)
19 ERJ (BOS/ORD/DFW)

The class that followed me had only one guy go to the ATR (because he picked SJU) and everyone else got the ERJ and CRJ.

If you want MIA, they will ask you if you are willing to take SJU. There are 3 guys in my class that are transitioning from the ATR to the ERJ out of MIA. They said the reserve there for a new hire is anywhere from 2-6 months.

Hope this helps.
